I loved it ... at first

by lolly21

The first time I went to Boom Boom I loved it. The girl did a good job and I was extremely happy. When I returned recently the lighting was so bad, and after I left the place I realized that a less than perfect job was done. One brow was much thicker than the other, strays, etc. When I immediately when back and told the receptionist of this she just looked at me with a puzzled face. I showed her the slip ups and instead of a professional reply she just said "Well I don't see it", blah, blah, blah. The original girl who did it had left so someone else was to fix it. As I waited and waited, I noticed someone who came in after me was taken ahead of me. When I inquired, I was told she had an appointment. However, her appointment was scehduled for 5:00pm and it was only 4:15. The receptionist just tried and tried to rationalize this lapse in customer service without so much as a "I'm Sorry". This just shows such a lack of experience in good customerr relations. I have one more certificate from this place and then plan on never returning. That's how much this situation annoyed me.

  • Pros: inexpensive
  • Cons: lacks customer service, bad lighting

Do Not Go Here...

by bumke

I had a terrible experience at this place. It's my second and last time. It started out badly with the receptionist asking me directly in front of an older man what I was there for. I gave my name and appt time but she wanted to know my service. I told her a wax and she insisted I tell her what kind. I'm a shy person and didnt think it was acceptable to ask me abt my brazilian wax in front of a stranger. Then I waited for abt 20mins when another woman asked me why I was there in front of the same man?! Let's be clear. I had an appt in their system so they could look it up or show some discretion. Also they were running late. no big deal usually but the amount of attitude I got when I asked them how much longer I would be waiting was ridiculous. I will never go back here and with all the choices in NYC, I suggest you do not either....

Best Waxing Services in NY

by JennieSmash

The staff was friendly and real and the wax was as close to painless as possible - great results, too. I'll go back every month.

They also have the cutest dog I've seen in awhile. Say hi to Baby. He's the wee pupkin reclining in a giant birdcage by the desk.

  • Pros: Excellent service, friendly staff, adorable salon
  • Cons: None

Terrible waxing services

by Newyorking

I booked a waxing appointment with Boom Boom after reading positive reviews here and hearing about the 50% off beauty week special. It was by far the worst waxing experience I have had.

The waxing was MESSY and rough, very rough. No wonder they make you sign an agreement that they will not be responsible for anything that goes amiss. So if they rip my skin off due to their rough act I am responsible for it. Also, they use the soft wax, which is useless because they are so rough. It still hurts as much if not more. And no a "sorry" each time is not enough. Finally, I came back home with some patches of hair all over which I had to shave. In addition, the wax was on my clothes. I have had much better service at cheaper places.

Yes they are friendly but I am not there to make friends, I am there for a service which if not performed well, there is no point to being just friendly. I will never go back there. Go at your own risk.

  • Pros: Friendly people, no double dipping, soft wax
  • Cons: Everything else
