“he was spanish so i tried to talk back in the little spanish i knew and we actually ended up having a pretty fun conversation.”
“great service.”
“decided to go with Moishe's because I was quoted a decent price (cheaper than Flat Rate) and they were more courteous on the telephone.”
In the course of moving me 1.5 miles
and charging me $1,300 for a $1,100 quoted move Moishes damaged the front door in my old apartment and an interior door in my new apartment. In both cases they were attempting to jam a couch through the door instead of removing it as would have been appropriate. They have been supposed to send someone out to "look" at the door for 8 days now. No one has come. This put me in a very bad situation as my landlord (who I already have an acrimonious relationship with) is still holding my security deposit and won't return it until the door is replaced.
Additionally the guy who headed up my move on the day of must have reminded 10 times that they needed to be tipped. He complained the whole day.
Run, do not walk away, from this company. A few years ago I needed to move my mother from a residential home she lived in Staten Island for over 30 years to a Brickell Ave Condo in Miami, FL and read many favorable reviews for this company, NY to Fl. The biggest mistake of my life. Not only did a ridiculous amount of items arrive broken, but their guaranteed professional staff ended up being homeless recruits at the delivery site. I would never use them again. Lost several items as breakage and professional service was a joke. Actually, homeless workers were more reliable than the supposed professional staff. This company has no credibility whatsoever. Service is terrible. The best I can say is that they expect to pay for damages. Meaning, don't expect any care in protecting your items.
Moishe's did a horrible job moving us.
This was the worst move - the truck was late by a week, the furniture was scratched, and they charged us $500 for switching trucks upon arrival. The company claims to have great customer satisfaction, but noone called us to apologize or anything like it. Please go with van lines or someone who knows how to actually move people - we made a mistake of believing their promises of speedy delivery and this was a mistake.
Just a horrible company that does not care about customers and is highly disorganized and irresponsible! You will save 20-25% on them, but you will pay dearly for that
I was very impressed with Moishe's. They did an outstanding job. They were on time, organized, and it was as stress free an experience as a move can be. Matt, the consultant who set up my move was extremely patient and took his time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I had a lot of books to move, which movers often complain about, but they took everything in stride and were very pleasant. They were careful with my things and efficient. I will definitely be using them again and will certainly be referring friends and family.
We couldn't be happier with the service
we received from Moishe's. Our sales consultant, Alex, was responsive, friendly, and helpful, and arranged just the right space for our short-term storage needs. The move-out process was totally seamless, and the moving crew was amazing. They had the contents of a 1BR 5th floor walkup apartment moved out in about 1/2 hour!
The move-in 3 months later was just as smooth, with Alex leading the way, arranging a time convenient for us. The dispatcher and crew once again delivered quality, timely service.
Quality customer service, careful and attentive moving crew, on-time moves, and great price. I would recommend Moishe's hands down!
Smooth Move.
Our experience with Moishe's was excellent from start to finish.
We had Adi come in to our apartment in Astoria to give us what I thought was an estimate for our move. He was very pleasant, and offered some tips to make the move faster (like using colored dots from Staples on boxes to color code rooms). After calculating everything, he told me he could do the move for $1200. I was under the impression that this price could change, depending on how long the move would take. However, after calling to ask, I was told that in fact, the price given was the price that we would pay.
Since this price was lower than two other prices I received, I booked with Moishe's. I was still expecting that I may have to pay more, since it seems that movers always find something else to charge you for.
The movers were scheduled to arrive at 9 am on the day of our move. We were up early (5:30 am) so when they called at 7:30 we were happy to have them get started (they did offer to wait until 9 if we were not ready for them). They quickly and carefully moved all our boxes out (we boxed almost everything - it really saves time). Then they wrapped and moved our furniture. They removed the legs from the couch, took the table off the pedestal and removed the headboard from the bed.
The entire 2 bedroom apartment was packed up by 9:30 and the movers were on their way to our new house in Merrick on Long Island. The movers arrived at the house around 10:30 (not bad since the truck can't use parkways) and they began to unload and reassemble the furniture they had taken apart for the move. The entire process was done by noon - about four and a half hours. When it came time to pay, I handed over $1200. No extra charges, no hidden fees. For me, that's huge. I highly recommend Moishe's - just make sure you're getting a flat price for the move, that way you'll know ahead of time what you're going to pay.
A Straightforward Move. I was apprehensive about calling a moving company because I didn't want to start the tedious process of moving. Finally I called Moishe's after three days of putting it off. Kat was amazingly helpful, walking me through the steps and explaining everything clearly. Kat made the moving process so transparent. I never thought moving could be so clear and simple. Of course the move was long and tiring, but that's to be expected I suppose. Everything went as smoothly as a move can go. I was impressed by the movers apparent skill and professionalism. I have a couple of pieces of antique furniture and I was quite pleased with the care that the movers handled them with. Thanks Kat and Moishe's for a smooth move.
First move that didn't cause a headache!.
Having had some pretty awful movers in the past, I am always skeptical about hiring moving companies. However, Courtney was super nice and helpful from the beginning. The day of the move I realized I had some stuff I didn't tell them about so I called them up half an hour before my scheduled move and they had no problem and only charged me a little bit more.
Tony and his crew were awesome. They were so efficient (all three of them were always working as opposed to most moving companies were one guy will always just stand around) and were extremely careful about wrapping all of my fragile items.
The price was great--about half of what I was quoted by Big John's and Flat Rate. My move was semi local--NYC to Hoboken. Highly recommended!
Moving is Easy with Moishe's.
If you can say moving and easy in the same breath, then you've moved with Moishe's. I, like most people dread moving. Last time I moved it was a short move, so I thought I could do it on my own, with only the help of a couple friends. Four trips and nine hours later, the only thing I was glad about, besides the fact that I was done, was the fact that I had a Honda Pilot and not a Civic, otherwise I would have been moving all night.
...So, when I decided to move to The City earlier this year, I knew I was going to hire a professional. I knew I wanted a company that would know the ins and outs of moving in New York City and wouldn't rip me off. I had heard good things about Moishe's, and everything I read about them seemed great. I even saw one of their big red trucks in The City. Every person I spoke with at Moishe's was really helpful, in a way that I usually only associate with small mom-and-pop businesses. The move was a breeze, everything went so smoothly, and nothing was broken! I had always thought that breaking stuff was just a part of moving, but not with Moishe's. I know that I'll be moving with Moishe's again. Thanks to Moishe's, I think I can say, "moving is easy".
Highly Recommend. Until I moved to New York, I always moved myself. But when I compared the prices of truck rental, plus thinking about all of the heavy lifting and traffic involved, I decided to ask around about moving companies. Several coworkers recommended Moishe's, and when I called to inquire, they were quite helpful on the phone. Then they sent Joel to come to my apartment and examine my belongings for the estimate, which was a little more than I expected. Joel explained that many companies tempt you with a low price that is unrealistic and then add fees at the last minute. I talked to my friends who had used moving companies, and many of them had paid much more than what I was quoted, so I went for it. Well, it all ended up being worth it on moving day, moving from one part of Manhattan to another on a busy Saturday, and these guys were total pros. I couldn't believe how fast they got me into my new place! And it cost exactly what they quoted me, which was a relief. Writing this review is the least I can do, thanks guys!
