BAD Men's Brazilian Wax!.
If you're a man considering getting a brazilian wax, do not go here. I repeat, do not go here.
The back story: I got my first-ever brazilian two months ago, at Bliss Soho. It went very well, I had no complaints, but the price was astronomical ($150, including tip). There's no way I can go there on any kind of regular basis unless I start selling my organs. So, I've been shopping around.
I had exchanged multiple emails with someone at Confidence, asking "Does your men's brazilian include removal of hair from the shaft of the penis, the scrotum, and the WHOLE butt." The answers were yes, yes, and yes.
The story: The woman who did my wax was very nice, and I believe she did her best, but she ended up tearing the skin on my scrotum. Ouch. I'm accustomed to little dabs of blood here and there after waxing. This was not dabs, it was active bleeding.
Then she told me, "We usually don't do that area."
She also ended up leaving an uneven line of hair above my junk (I didn't go full FULL brazilian) and she missed hair on my shaft. But after the scrotal bleeding I wasn't about to insist she work on any more ultra-sensitive areas.
After she'd done all that, plus the butt crack, she asked, "Do you want anything else done?" I said, "Yes, the cheeks too." She said, "Oh, that's extra. But I'll do it," probably because she felt bad for tearing my nutsack.
On top of it all, she was double-dipping and reusing the same strips, which I'm told you shouldn't do. I'll confess I don't know why it's a no-no, but I've heard it many times.
Double-dipping aside, I blame whoever answered my email and misled me about what Confidence can and can't do. In the end, the butt waxing went perfectly. (Puns not intended.) Very little pain, no bleeding. And if I'd just gotten waxed AROUND the scrotum, which is apparently their norm, that would have gone fine as well. But who really wants that look? Are men really paying for that?
If I'd known the limits of their service I never would have gone. As it is, I'm never going back.
So in a couple if months, or whenever I'm done healing, I'll keep shopping around. I know that what I'm asking for is possible, because Bliss (as expensive as they are) did it perfectly. But if anyone knows of a place that does it cheaper, let me know!
P.S. As other reviewers have said, Confidence tried to push the package deal on me too. First the waxer asked about it when she started, and then she actually asked about it AGAIN when I went to pay! The same woman who tore open my balls!
*WARNING: PERV ALERT: ROBERT MALE MASSAGE THERAPIST*.
I've had at least 20 full-body massages in my 35+ years and have never been uncomfortable with a male or female therapist. This is my first review ever.
I had a Travelzoo voucher for 60 min massage, 30 min facial and spa mani/pedi.
After 20-30min on my back, ROBERT went into full-on butt rubbing. It immediately felt wrong, and I figured he would move on in a min, but he was just hanging out there. I had to ask him to stop. He said, "I'm sorry, I should have asked you, but you weren't wearing panties and the way you were breathing, I thought you were OK with it." ?!?! I said: No, I'm not OK w/ it, and this is not typically part of a massage. He was arguing that it was normal and was asking if I would complain. I told him to get out, got dressed and went to reception to speak to a manager. Turns out the manager was sitting right next to the receptionist as ROBERT followed me to the desk and continued to argue this was a normal massage, my breathing was relaxed, I was naked... and on and on.
BULLSH*T- THIS GUY IS A TOTAL PERV AND THIS "SPA" IS TOO CLUELESS & CHEAP TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! (I now see there are 2 other reviews stating the same.)
The manager, Dasha, finally decided to pay attention, I asked to speak w/ her in private. I told her what happened and said I wanted a refund and I wanted to leave. She said she could not give me a refund b/c it was through Travelzoo, said I could start over w/ a female therapist. I said I really was not interested, and would rather just move on to the facial. She kindly said they would give me a 60 min. facial to compensate. (All the while, she was saying how ROBERT was a licensed massage therapist, she had a massage from him... this was normal... saying how I should have asked for a female therapist... etc, etc. AGAIN, BS)
Galina gave me a facial that was perfectly decent, though lasted only about 45 min, including 15min to let a mask dry. After that, I was done with this place. I really did not want to hang out for a mani/pedi with perv walking around. I went to reception and told them I was leaving and left a very nice tip for my facial. Receptionist said they wanted me to sign s/thing that said I would not ask Travelzoo for a refund b/c of what happened. I said I'm not signing anything and left.
Honestly, I'm not concerned about the money-- I just don't want other people to go through this.
Personally, I will not be buying any spa "deals" ever again. You get what you pay for and good places/people do not need these gimmicks to draw in traffic. Good luck out there, folks!
horrible mani/pedi, not worth it for any reason!.
horrible all-around. booked my appt for 5:45pm, but they called and asked me to come in at 6:15pm. then when i got there at 6:15pm, i had to wait another 15min.
i didn't catch my person's name, but she looked like she was maybe 17 (eastern european, angled shoulder-length brunette, wearing TINY denim mini-skirt) and she was nice but just awful.
she cut my cuticle too short (it bled), she scrubbed my right foot way too hard on the regular skin (not even the calluses)- it hurt!! but then barely touched my left foot.
she had her own manicure and she was WAY too consumed with ruining it, so she just dropped the polish all over my toenails and skin. to get the polish off my skin she would poke/rub with a wooden cuticle stick; she dropped it on the ground once, just picked it up and continued to use it on me.
same exact thing for my manicure (plopping on the color, dropping and re-using the cuticle stick, way too worried about her own mani).
she couldn't even decently remove the former polish from my hands when starting my mani.
the resulting job she did was incredibly lumpy/missed complete sections of my nail/air bubbles. the air dryer didn't work on one side; after i asked twice they changed it but that didn't work at all, but they insisted it did.
not to mention after 5min under the "dryer" they all started staring at me to get out of there bc they had no room.
i could've done a much better job at home on my own. it's 3 days since and my mani's already starting to chip very badly.
i got a great $ deal thru lifebooker, but absolutely not worth the experience i received. it seemed like maybe the other workers were better, but i'm not risking it by coming back.
Chocolate Brazillian Wax. I just came from this place today. I left from there very disatisfy.... I got a Brazillian Bikini First she didn't put enough powder so the wax wont grab on the skin, then she would repeat the wax on the same spot like 3 to 4 times... she left hair that the wax couldnt grab, and when I asked to have them plucked out she was like no that she couldn't.. Never hear of that... The best one is one thats located in Midtown........ IDK if I can say the name of the place here.... oh btw I did the chocolate brazillian wax.... I will for sure not return here....
I was thinking about getting the $25 deal from livingsocial but after reading the reviews I'm going to skip this place.
I'm turned off from what seems to be false ratings. If you read all the reviews, it looks like one person is writing good reviews with 5 stars and another bad with 1 star. The writing/wording is consistent, as well as the spelling and grammar errors.
I gave it 3 stars to be neutral. Go if you want to but don't trust these reviews.
DO NOT GET A MASSAGE HERE. DON'T GO HER..
DO NOT GET A MASSAGE HERE. And if you can help it, don't go here. Period.
I could write dozens of things about how awful this place was and how it was NOT the relaxing end to a long week I had been looking forward to for days, but that would keep me from my main message.
Robert, their masseuse, was inappropriate while massaging me and I was too scared to say anything about it. I suspect other women have felt the same...perhaps even a poster on Yelp dot com one year ago (look for her entry there on 3/25/2010).
I have been getting massages for nearly 20 years , with both male and female masseuses, but NEVER have I felt uncomfortable with someone's touch.
Too low on my back.
Too high on my inner thigh.
Too close to my breasts.
Yes, I should have said something, but I was too freaked out and too scared to do anything. So now I am.
I have warned the owner and, obviously, will never return. I advise you avoid going here at all costs.
I LEFT WITH A BLEEDING VAGINA.
I got a Brazilian bikini wax here and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences ever!! I have been getting this service for over 7 years and never had a disgusting experience like this. The woman didn't know what she was doing and was extremely un professional and unsanitary. I found it odd when I was told to disrobe completely from the waist down but not provided any hygienic panties (illegal). She starts my service, and her phone rings, not only did she answer her cell phone but decides to have a conversation with section 8 while she is waxing my vagina! She finally gets off the phone and continues without changing he gloves (also illegal). It is clear from my experience that she was not trained properly because she was not doing it in the appropriate way which caused it to be much more painful. For a Brazilian bikini wax it is industry standard to use muslin strips, she used paper strips instead, this wouldn't have been that serious of an issue, but she repeatedly used the same paper strip. Instead of every time she applied wax using a new strip (like she is supposed to) she used the same dirty paper strip covered in hair and wax over and over. She also used the same stick and repeatedly dipped the same shtick she used on me in the wax, which is dangerous and disgusting( very illegal). By NY state law the person performing the wax must use a new stick every time when applying more wax to avoid the spread of disease! Every single time I have ever gotten a Brazilian bikini wax the stray hairs are removed by tweezers to give the desired pout come. After all Brazilian wax= no hair at all! She refused to do this saying it was illegal, but didn't seem to be bothered much by doing al the other illegal things I have stated. Instead of using tweezers (as is normal) she was repeatedly applying hot wax over and over to get rid of some stray hairs which cause painful bleeding rips on my labia. When I told her that my vagina was bleeding she got angry and defensive....so much for customer service ;(
DO NOT GO HERE!!!
Best brazilian waxes in town!. I absolutely loved Confidence Beauty Spa and Salon! I would recommend anyone that needed a treatment done to go there.
