Color

Specializing in color correction? Please! He cannot even do something as simple as a single process color without screwing it up. Avi is a nice guy, but, has no idea what he is doing. Everyone else on his staff seems as inexperienced as he is. My advice, based on my own experience, is to go somewhere else. This salon will only waste your money and time- and you will end up having to go somewhere else any way to fix his mistakes.

Straightening

He burnt my wives scalp, just like the previous user her hair is falling off by strands. We wake up in the morning and her pillow is covered in hair, and let's not talk about when she combs her hair. We went to a dermatologist who confirmed that he burnt her scalp and totally damaged her hair. And he charged 450 dollars for this!!!!!! He doesn't even give good men haircuts either.,

Bad Japanesse straightening

I got a japanesse straigntening a year ago, and it ws great cheap and not damaging to my hair. This happened on chinatown.

This year however I decided to do it in the neighborhood and I went to Avi's. Bad idea. He totally fried my hair and is falling off. He didn;t wash a part or he applied to muc to a part and totally fried it. It seems like burnt with a match. Are only 2 zones on my hair , the most noticeable ones by the way, and I have lost half of my precious hair in the lapse of 2 days! I am not coming back and telling everyone to stay away from there.

Guys - think twice before going here

Avi is a good guy, and he has cut my hair twice, but just know going in that his idea of styled hair is extremely short. For men, he uses electric hair trimmer rather than scissors, and I walked out of there looking like I was being deployed to Iraq. The first haircut I had with him wasnt bad, but it was short, and I even told him not to go as short this time. He left a little more hair than if he had shaved my head - it's that short. Be warned... And no, I wont be going back. There are a lot of other choices in FiDi.

Better than Madison Ave.

Avi's cut and style is better than the one I got for years on Madison Ave. on the Upper East Side at a salon that charged $200.00 (no color, just cut and style). I am thrilled to have Avi doing my hair. He's a great guy with excellent technique. My daughter came up from D.C. and he cut her hair in an entirely different style (she went from mid-length to short hair). She looks darling, loves it, and despairs that she doesn't live closer. This guy is a gem. You won't be disappointed.
