Editorial Review for t.b.d. – by Joshua M. Bernstein
In Short
Though there's no shortage of northern Brooklyn boozitoriums, the classy-joint quotient was woefully low before the arrival of this minimalist lounge. The 2,500-square-foot space--featuring a roll-up garage door--contains Ikea-esque furniture, concrete floors and recessed flat-screen TVs that broadcast art installations and ancient movies rather than athletics events. Still, drinking's a sport at this airy corner spot filled with neighborhood folks: Sample 12 drafts (including local Brooklyn brews), a bucket of "crap beers" (including Schlitz and PBR) and rare liquors like herbaceous chartreuse and (finally legalized) absinthe.
Hits: You'll savor a sleek counterpoint to Greenpoint's dark, divey bar scene while sucking down tasty microbrews and hard-to-find spirits.
Misses: The antiseptically clean room can feel a bit like drinking inside a Swedish-furniture showroom, and without tons of people, the cavernous space may feel a bit lonely, even oppressive.

Insider Tips
Food ServedGet your grub on with cheese-topped chili dogs ($6), mac 'n' cheese ($7) or, come weekends, a frittata ($8).
Save MoneyBetween 4pm and 7pm daily, the after-work crowd downs $3 well cocktails and $3 pints, including Sixpoint Sweet Action and Blue Point's Optical Illusion.
Fun FactThe bar's owners have boozy backgrounds: Diane Foley was formerly in liquor marketing, while Allen Welch bartended at Long Island City's Lounge 47.

This neighborhood is changing fast and along with the change came this new bar on the corner of Franklin and Green St. right across from the Greenpoint Coffee house. Although I will say that TBD seems as though it not quite complete (lacking color, entertainment, stagnant environment, nothing on the walls) it has the vibe of one of those places that you know has the potential to be the next big hangout see and be seen spot. I've already noticed an influx of "hipsters" hanging out there, along with some famous musicians (one being from Manhattan the night I visited). Let's hope this place turns out to be the cool hangout everyone wants and not the modern clubby Manhattan gig everyone expects. Some friends told me they have live indie and jazz music. That's a good start. Best of luck to this place.
Pros: very cool hangout spot with needed improvements
Cons: very open space without much closure
