my favorite hair salon

I've been looking for good Japanese hair salon for a while, since I want to cut my hair short with a little bit of layer. After I read all those reviews from the internet, I decided to try Yo-C Salon last week, it was a great experience!! I brought the picture of the hair style I want, and Yoshi shared his thought with me. When he cut my hair, he explained to me what he planed to do first, make me feel respectful. It took about 1 1/2 hour to finish the hair cut, as I have medium-long hair, the result is great!!! I upload my new hair stylein my facebook right away, and my friends love it.

My husband also had the hair cut as well with Reiko, and he looks younger after the hair cut, hahaha =P, he likes it as well.

Will definitely come back again.

Rieko is awesome!

I went to YO-C after my aunt had gotten a killer cut and beautiful color last month. I was welcomed by Rieko who introduced herself and sat me down to see what I was looking for. Because my stylist of 6-years left for Paris, I was very nervous to be in a new salon. Rieko reassured me YO-C was the right place for me. My hair came out IDENTICAL to the photo I brought along... she really did a great job and I will return many times again... she is also very soft spoken and NOT pushy which I love in a stylist... try her out, shes FABULOUS!

Best kept secret in the city!!

I've been trying to find a hair salon I like in the city forever now. I randomly found this online and decided to try it out. It's definitely my permanent place now!

The atmosphere is perfect. It's clean, pretty and a very relaxed, calming space. I went in there not really knowing what I was talking about but knew I had roots and needed to get more highlights for the summer.

Yoshi listened to me and gave me the absolute best highlights I've gotten so far in the city -- and for about 100 bucks less than what I'd been paying for them. He was also really professional, yet soo great to talk to and friendly. His assistant gave me the best shampoo I've ever had and even used a hot towel on my neck and forehead after. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better she gave me a little head/neck/shoulder massage in the chair before drying my hair. I was in heaven.

I'm without a doubt going back to this place. I can't believe how much less it was than every other place in the city, yet was a million times better!

Best East Village High End Salon Experience

I had an incredible experience at this beautiful salon. I loved the clean lines and relaxing atmosphere in this intimate space on East 5th street. The soothing introduction and attention to my needs was outstanding. The artists really know how to give a carefree haircut that is done in a very professional and calm atmosphere. The simple touches such as Lac\vender soaked hot towels on my neck as I was shampooed and the chair massage was a real treat and made me forget my busy rainy cold day from work. The haircut was carefully done and not rushed??.perfect. I got an excellent lesson in hairdrying and I was on my way expecting to pay so much more for this terrific experience?. I have been back for a trim and second haircut and it was even better than the first! Please support this local small outstanding neighborhood establishment!

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME... AND AFFORDABLE!!!!

It took me seven years and many tries, but I've finally found my place. I went to Yo-C for Japanese straightening after a horrible hair cut and after a good review. What a great hidden gem! My stylist, Moouja, was fabulous and attentive without hovering and she never waivered during the 3 1/2-hour process. Her English was also excellent. I saw how the owner, Yoshi, really listened to his clients and asked many questions before he got started - a plus in my book. And the music was quite enjoyable and not the usual techno as in most Japanese salons. I highly recommend this friendly and affordable place to anyone seeking a professional and welcoming place.
