Don't let the rundown entrance, old elevator or surly bouncer keep you from enjoying this urban bar and bi-level lounge, located on the penthouse floor of an unremarkable midtown building. Half indoors and half outdoors, the airy space features a patio with bar and grill, sleek wooden furniture and comfy canopied daybeds (generally reserved for the bottle service crowd). A large, enclosable room (with retractable roof) has plenty of banquettes and private nooks where beautiful New Yorkers and tourists alike can take in the breeze--and the scene.

Hits: A plethora of standing plants, a working grill and the notable outdoor space give the sense of a tropical locale far away from the buzz of Times Square.

Misses: Until you get to upstairs to the penthouse, the building itself looks and feels shabby--an unwelcome precursor to the difficult door policy and $16 cocktails.

came here last week even though the weather was not ideal for a rooftop experience. Their indoor space is actually really cool too. My group and I had some of the food--Chips and Guacamole and my burger was awesome! a really great night despite the rain.

I am not even going to begin to explain the awful night me and my friends had at Highbar last night, but will do my best at making sure any TRUE NEW YORKER will not waste their time or money here. Unfortunately due to the awful management and DJ being so rude, what should have been a fun addition to my bachelorette party festivities basically turned a good night into a disaster! According to the DJ (who obviously was NOT from New York) there is 'no hip hop played here' so don't expect ANY good music. DJ, maybe you should make your rounds in the 20's on the West side and learn that good clubs actually play hip hop, then maybe you can actually get out of working for a club in the middle of Times Square? Set your limits a little higher maybe? I don't even know what was playing other than what I would refer to as god-awful Euro-trash TRANS techno, where the DJ literally pressed play on what was probably his Itunes library. Be wary of the security guards dressed like 'pimps' (full on HAT and pin-striped suit) as well as the tiny manager wearing pastels, who thinks he has the coolest club in Manhattan. Oh, and did I mention the bimbo 'model reject' waitresses who probably have no clue what day it is. Long story short, avoid this place if possible, and I prey it goes out of business as quickly as possible so other New Yorker's are not scammed out of a good night out.

We went to Highbar last Saturday and had such an amazing time. It was a group of us...roughly 20+ ppl. We didn't make any reservations but when we got there. The doorman was nice enough to accommodate our group. We ended up getting a table there since the bar was pretty busy. The service was really good no complaints on that side. The only downfall was that since the rooftop wasn't open the place was kinda stuffy. But overall we had a great time! Definitely recommend stopping by there in the spring time.
