Don't let the rundown entrance, old elevator or surly bouncer keep you from enjoying this urban bar and bi-level lounge, located on the penthouse floor of an unremarkable midtown building. Half indoors and half outdoors, the airy space features a patio with bar and grill, sleek wooden furniture and comfy canopied daybeds (generally reserved for the bottle service crowd). A large, enclosable room (with retractable roof) has plenty of banquettes and private nooks where beautiful New Yorkers and tourists alike can take in the breeze--and the scene. – – Hits: A plethora of standing…

Hidden Gem Awful Staff

by Midtown Queen at Citysearch

Went to HIGHBAR for the first time for a co-worker's gathering and was really impressed with what I saw when I exited the elevator. I work nearby and my co-workers and I should've discovered this place in the summer. It's really beautiful.

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be back or recommend this place to anyone after dealing with the staff.

There were two bartenders working but only one was serving group. The other bartender and waitress were too busy reading their magazines and texting on the phone. I finally got their attention to ask them if they could lower the temp as we were getting a little hot and she looked at me as if I was asking her to do me a huge favor. She didn't even bother to serve any of our guests cocktails that were sitting and stood there like she wanted us to leave. With the exception of the asian bartender the rest of the staff couldn't be bothered with us including the bus boys that were just watching TV. With no manager in sight we couldn't even complain. Too bad as this would've been a great place for our company gatherings.

This place for Euro trash

by JanetKahili7 at Citysearch

Why spend your money here...don't waste your time. You are not welcome if you are bigger than a size 4, black or deemed not attractive.

Its is true the door policy is just awful. And the Italian door man is so rude. He was rude to my friends and exclaimed that the party was not for them, then suddenly the roof top was at capacity. Excuse me?!

Its the High Bar not the Four Seasons. This is the worst place to buy a drink in NYC, over priced, rude staff, and the view and music is not great

This is why I do not travel above 14th st. If most reviews are negative then there is a very big problem with this place.

Well this is New York and there is always somewhere much more better and way cooler around the corner.

In short...please do not waste your time.

Nice rooftop but brutal service

by CSMobileUser2 at Citysearch

I'm literally at this bar right now and i can't begin to tell you how rude our server is. She is making it quite clear that it is an annoyance to serve our party. For example we ordered a grilled cheese and, after having gotten no food or update for over 20 min, asked her about it. She sneered - and i mean SNEERED - "it's coming." We all had to chuckle at her incredible rudeness, which had manifested itself in many ways already, and she replied by yelling "well what did you expect to hear?!" ummmmm, how about "oh i'm sorry it's taking so long, let me go check on it." Then she went straight to her coworker and audibly retold the story about our incredulous inquiry. Unreal. Beware this place if you value decent service.
