What People Are Saying About 5 Napkin Burger
Featured Review
Joshua M Bernstein

In Short – Hell's Kitchen hamburger aficionados should munch happily at this industrial-chic burger eatery outfitted with exposed lightbulbs, wraparound windows and dangling meat hooks. While the menu ranges from seared-tuna spinach salads to filet mignon to beer-steamed mussels, the star is the 5 Napkin Burger: a fat 10-ounce patty topped with caramelized onions, herbaceous rosemary aioli and gooey cheese, then served aside matchstick-style fries. Diners beware: The jaw-busting burger's juicy, so wear a napkin or you'll stain your clothes.

A Formidable West Coast Challenger
by Russell Ruggiero
New York is a city obsessed with burgers. We have thousands of places that serve a slab of meat on a bun. From $.99 to over $100, it caters to a wide audience. While the West coast rules the “Burger World”, New York has come up with a formidable challenger in 5 Napkin Burger.
The standard 5 Napkin Burger is quite good and respectable, but the Burger for Two, which is made up of two short rib patties is monster. On a recent outing, one member from France said it was not only the largest burger he has ever had, but was made with the finest ingredients. He was shocked with not only the burger, but the Kobe hot dog, which started our meal.
The true test was the West coast “Dude” who is a burger expert. Put off by my suggestion that we go for the slab of meat on bread meal, he said “you really have nothing that can touch a good California burger”, which gave me food for thought. The Burger for Two changed all that. At the end of the meal he stated “I still think In-And-Out is better”, which put 5 Napkin Burger in the upper echelon of the burger world in my view.
Burgers are a personal thing, like art. Cezanne or Monet? It is really a matter of taste. The West coast group may choose the In-And-Out Double Double or the Wine Cask Kobe burger, but New York has a winner on its hands with 5 Napkin Burger. Great food, exciting setting with a super beer list.

Great Burger Restaurant.!! My boyfriend and I just saw HAIR and wanted to grab a bit and i saw it listed in the program, so i was like what they Heck! The Hostess was polite. She told us like a 10 min wait then like5 mins later we were being seated.I Had the Cheddar Burger Which was Yummy! and I had the berry Apricot Fizz Cocktail which was fizzy and good! He enjoyed it as well so that's always good! :)
Let's Just say Imma be coming back!
- Pros: Brugers are Big and Tasty
HAIR IN FOOD
by venomous
Towards the end of our meal, my boyfriend found a long string of hair in his burger. The situation would not have been that bad had he found the hair before it got into his mouth but he didn't. It wasn't until he was chewing the food that he discovered the hair. The whole scene and HAIR grossed me out enough to send me to bathroom. I was so disgusted that I vomited. Needless to say, my boyfriend vomited at the restaurant and at one point on the way home. The manager offered to remove one burger of the bill until I complained that we didn't want to pay for any of the meal (especially since none of it was in our stomachs). In any case, the manager removed both burgers. I will NEVER go back to 5 Napkin Burger nor will I ever eat a burger again!
Juicy Fat Burgers

I see some reviews here don't seem to enjoy their burgers but I had a great time during my lunch here.
I have heard about 5 Napkin Burger for a while and have meant to try it but just never found the desire to travel all the way to 9th Ave. and 46th Street since I live in East Village. However, since I work near Javits Center and my boyfriend's new job is right on 42nd and 9th Ave, I think this might just be the perfect spot for our lunch date.
I made a reservation online for 12:30PM and when I arrived, the host quickly sat me down while I waited for my boyfriend to arrive. We both wanted to try their burgers. I got the Italian Turkey burger and he went for the Bacon cheddar burger. Our burgers were humongous! The Italian turkey burger is topped with mozzarella cheese, marinated pepper and Mariana sauce. The turkey patty is juicy and well seasoned. The burger is so big and heavy that the bottom bun is drenched and crushed! This makes eating a bit messy but I don't mind at all.
My boyfriend's bacon cheddar is great too. It is dripping sauce all over the plate and making a mess. Nonetheless, it is an amazing burger. Oh did I mention their fries?! They are addictive. You don't need extra salt and they are really crispy.
Both burgers cost about $12 each during lunch and about $1 to $2 more for dinner. They also offer the low carb option, which is burger salad (no bun). I saw a bunch of people ordering it and that might just be my next meal here!
- Pros: Tender, juicy burgers and crispy fries
- Cons: messy
