Very unprofessional. Paul arbitrarily changed my appointment dates THREE times without even telling me or asking me if it was okay with us. I got an email on the same day " your appointment has been changed to Wednesday". After one week of waiting for them, I decided to hire another handyman company.

pricey but generally very good. The best thing about NYcitySTUFF is having a one-stop resource for handyman of varying expertise, be it carpentry or electrical work. The people tend to be timely and professional, especially compared with others in the field. A very convenient service.

Great service and follow-up. I contacted them in March '09 to assist with fixing the improper installation of a washer/dryer by a previous repairman in a very small closet in my kitchen. They were friendly, efficient, and provided great service. The unit worked fine but recently I noticed that it was leaking water. I contacted them again as the washing machine had given me an error message that said a hose was kinked. They came back and fixed this problem for no charge - that is standing behind your work! I would highly recommend them for any job you may have around the house/apartment.

Best Value in Painting. They did a great job painting, repairing water damages and cracks. Edwin was professional, honest and flexible, making suggestions to save money without compromising too much on quality. I interviewed several other companies, and found Edwin to be the most knowledgeable. Although not the cheapest, I think definitely the best value given the quality of work. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

Great Handyman Service. Highly recommend. Handyman was a general contractor. Gave him 3 separate, unrelated jobs, he knew exactly what to do. Was friendly, very easy to work with and willingly went beyond was was required in order to get the job done right.

Best Handymen Around. I would recommend these guys 1,000 times over. Punctual, clean, efficient, and quality work. We had them do a couple of jobs (TV mount, washer/dryer installation, old washer removal and door removal) and all were done great. We also are planning on having them install a chandelier and window treatments once they come in, which I know they will do perfectly! Really fantastic and very reasonable!!! A lifesaver if you are not too handy yourself!

NYC Stuff is awesome!. NYC Stuff is awesome. I've used them twice now, once for painting and once to hang drapes, and both times the guys were prompt, friendly, professional, and efficient. They did a great job and I'll definitely hire them again!

These are the guys if you need something done in your apartment. I needed some things disconnected and replaced before I moved. NYCStuff sent Flint. He was perfectly on time, worked every minute he was here. It was a pleasure to have a postive attitude, inteligent competent person working in my home. Flint brought tools, and hardware and lots of stuff (including plaster in case there is a ding in the wall.). When he did not have the perfect screw, he went to the hardware store. He was neat and cleaned up after himself.

NYC Stuff responded to my request sameday, schedule the work for 2 days later, called to confirm the night before and called within a couple hours of completion to make sure the job went well. These guys were so easy to work with - they will do all my work in the future.

Great Handyman service. Fairly inexpensive, friendly, and really knowledgeable. Flint, the guy sent over by NYCityStuff was a lifesaver. he worked with me to retrofit an IKEA loft bed so that it would fit in my tiny (50sq ft.) bedroom. I had been worried that the project would be impossible, and we certainly found a few unforseen problems along the way, but Flint had a great attitude and a lot of experience and he made it work better than I could have ever hoped for. He was personable, knowledgeable, and great fun to hang out with. The company itself was easy to work with and paying online was pretty fast and simple. I would definitely recommend this service to anyone looking for someone reasonable, knowledgeable, and professional to help them with a project they can't do themselves.

UPDATE: Reliable for day jobs, but think carefully for multi-day projects (based on 3 months of trying). UPDATE TO REVIEW:

The owner of NYCityStuff recently called & explained internal staffing issues were to blame for my headaches. He very fairly offered to refund me for the hours spent on the shelving that never happened. Refund arrived quickly & the owner apologized very sincerely for the treatment I received.

Still sounds like service is best for day jobs only. Speak with Paul if you run into probs - he does care about his company. My treatment can't be undone, but if you have a prob, speak with him directly.

---------------------

I called NYcityStuff based on reviews on City Search & Yelp, & types of jobs covered. I wanted a certain look but didn't know if what I wanted was doable so I was looking for some input.

I wish I could say they were great, but honestly, 2 guys (Matt & Ed) came once, took measurements, were to call me with estimates for the floor-to-ceiling shelving I wanted, they disappeared. Poof! Never heard from again.

The 1st guy (Matt) never showed/called again after his 1st visit. A week or so later, I called the company's office...& emailed [note: I had to do all the follow up...NYcityStuff office never contacted me to say someone was or wasn't coming, or wouldn't show again]. Apparently, Matt had family issues. Ok, no prob. Could he or someone have called me & resched a new person?

2nd guy, Ed, shows up, does a great job fixing my apt door, takes measurements for the shelving & some of my hardware to try out--and again, is never heard from again. So now, 7 weeks after guy 2, I'm still trying to get my hardware back!

I was courteous, polite, offered beverages as it's summer & it was hot. I paid on the spot with a check that didn't bounce. I had fully expected to pay somewhere around $1,000 for the job & was ready to do so.

So my suggestion is, go ahead and try NYcityStuff for day jobs only. You're better off making friends with a neighbor, or continuing to pester a relative to help you for the big projects.
