“I'm used to traveling all the way downtown or even as far a brooklyn for a good porterhouse but thanks to a friends recommendation those long rides are OVER.”
I've been to a lot of steakhouses, both
in NYC and San Francisco, and continue to be impressed highly with the quality of ambiance, food, and service here.
Let's start with ambiance: nice mood lighting, slight red tinge to the lighting makes everyone look healthy and attractive.
The tables are spread out so you have privacy and quiet (relatively speaking), which is a real plus in Manhattan.
Service? It is as good as it gets. Totally not pretentious, just the opposite! Very helpful, friendly, willing to split any salad or dish, ready to bag it to take home. Just great service.
And the food? Delicious! We had Canadian Bacon, Caesar salad, Sirloin steak, German hash browns, sauted mushrooms, lobster ravioli, and Brussel Sprouts. Every dish was excellent. I seriously admire the quality of the food here.
Oh, let's not forget dessert. We had Chocolate Cheese cake, and also Tira Misu.
Both were superb.
The House Gin Martini was a large pour and well priced, and the Merlot was great for $12.
You can tell I am sorta gushing, but they deserve it. I love to see a family owned business do well, and I enjoy a great meal in NYC for a reasonable (OK, reasonable for a really first rate place) price. This was a five star experience in every way, Kudos and Bravo!
Fantastic Experience!. Recently our company had a year-end celebration dinner at Club A Steakhouse, we were able to reserve their "wine cellar" private room which is a FANTASTIC setting. The steak was out-of-this-world... you have to try the porterhouse! Their Wine list is wonderful and staff was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone I know that enjoys a good steak and great atmosphere!
The best steak in years!. I've worked in the neighborhood for years and just stumbled upon Club A last week. I have to say it was the tastiest steak I've had in years. Great atmosphere and very good food. Try the french onion soup it was outrageous!
Not good for catering. Was with a large party on Saturday night; staff was completely unprepared for us. Everything went wrong and made a special evening turn out to be less special. Food, drinks and staff were not organized.
Not so greta. Been here a few times and food was always outstanding; asked for the Chef and he is no longer here. Needless to say, the food is not up to par anymore. It's either overcooked or undercooked; salty or not seasoned enough. Disappointing.
Top 3 steaks in in Manhattan. Formerly Bruno's, a friend and I popped into Club A last night, having not heard much talk as to whether any good or not as a steakhouse. Lobster and Escargot to start were good, though escargot could have used more garlic. After that, it got amazing: 24oz. Prime Aged bone-in ribeyes were cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a crust that I will use as my standard for all future steaks. 5-cheese truffle mac and glazed brussel sprouts w/ bacon were two of the best sides I've ever had, affordable wine selections, and wonderful desserts. Service rivaled the food and owner/management, Bruno and Agron Selimaj, treat you like family. This was truly one of the best overall dining experiences I've had in recent memory and is going in my Top 3 for steakhouses. They really do a great job and I will definitely be bringing guests here frequently from now on.
Yum Yum and More Yum. Decor is class-act. Not like the rest of the stiff looking steakhouse. I have to say, this is not a restaurant but a dining experience. From the friendly staff, to the amazing food and service and thereafter you head up to the piano room. Steak & Chops was cooked to perfection, the sides were yummy and the pairing of wines were superb. The Chef happened to be in the dining room and we stopped him to tell him how great the food was, he was very pleasant. The owner Bruno was a class act too, making his way over to our table to ensure we were happy. This is a great way to spend an evening ....
DISAPPOINTING WASTE OF MONEY.
My husband and I had dinner at Club A Steakhouse Saturday night and we will never go back. No wonder why the place was so empty. My husbands steak was undercooked , and mine was over cooked and stringy. I ended up eating most of my meal alone as my husband watched. Our sides were flimsy and luke warm. Talk about cutting portion sizes. Is this supposed to be a steakhouse?????? Come on- get your act together here. We live in New York and eat out in steakhouses all of the time. The service was inconsistent, but friendly.
We read all of the great reviews and thought it was a good choice. We were obviously mistaken.
Steak and So Much More. You'll go here for the steak but everything is so fresh you will come back again and again. The shrimp served with two sauces is a brilliant starter and the vegetables are unforgettable. Creamed spinach and mac and cheese like you've never had before, I swear. The wine cellar is excellent, too. It's crowded but there is, of course, a reason for that. It's a great restaurant.
A little wait...but well worth it. I went to Club A Steakhouse on Valentines day with my girlfriend & had a delicious meal. We got there at about 8 (on time for our reservation) & we were asked to wait at the bar & have a drink. The place was packed!! After about a half hour, Bruno( the owner) brought us upstairs to a table in a nice romantic, red velvet style room. The waiter came over & asked us for drinks. We ordered a nice bottle of california cabernet (Faust & at the the price they sell it at, it's definitely a deal). Franky, our waiter, was kind enough to decant it for us. Always a big plus when waiters go the extra step to decant a bottle of wine. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2, Mac & Cheese, Brussel Sprouts & Hashbrowns. Although it took a while for our food to come out(1 hour..but it's valentines day in manhattan...so its expected), we didn't mind, We were enjoying time with eachother just talking & enjoying great wine. The porterhouse was cooked the right way(charred on the outside & pink in the middle...just the way i like it. Sides were all really good too(Mac & Cheese with truffle oil & brussel sprouts with bacon) ..We didn't even want to look at the desert menu because we were full with our delicious porterhouse..Bruno, the owner, is definitely a class act. He came up to us & apologized about the wait & offered an after dinner drink with his compliments..def a nice touch..all in all..club a steakhouse was great..its just one of those nights i guess...ill be back on a "regular" night to enjoy again...
