Great hidden gem.
Wow! Another hidden gem! Tucked in among the monster new bars on 9th Avenue, this one is easily overlooked. Good thing too. Otherwise it might become popular and lose its charm. Nearly empty on Thursday at 9:30, this place was so relaxed and friendly... it was as if they didn't care for anyone else except those few of us who were sitting right there.
Typical bar fare, they had an interesting wheat beer on top. I forgot the name, but it was something like ShopStop. Nice, but more summery than October. We each had a class then moved to Sam Adams Oktoberfest.
We harassed the poor waitress on her 2nd night on the job. Asking for this and that... then more thises and thats. She was as Irish as a shileighlee, but with 2 years in New York. She had a great sense of humor, and incredible tolerance. During the evening, the manager and remodeler (they're adding a darts room) came over to chat several times. And they did their best to make the night even more pleasant.
I think there's a juke box, but the music is at a comfortable conversation level. The TVs too, though there, are unobtrusive. This is a drinkers pub. Not a disco. Not a sports hell. Not a meat market. Just right for this drinker and his friends. --Drink Club NYC s a roving group of NYC drinkers
Great beer, great people- an excellent find!. This place is terrific! It's hard to find a place with a 'local' feel so close to Penn Station, but this place is awesome!! Super friendly, great food, good beer selection. Went with a bunch of friends, and ended up staying 'til the wee hours- awesome jukebox, too :) Definitely going back to enjoy the beer garden!!!
Editorial Review. Stop by for lunch, dinner or just a drink at this New York Irish Pub.
Great Pub Atmosphere and Beer Garden.
I love this place especially in the summer . You're walking along crazy 9th avenue and would never know that in the back is a beautiful beer garden (trees and All)
Good Beer and Good Food!
Great Happy Hour!. Went there before I was going to a concert. Had great happy hour. Sat outside and enjoyed the weather... Seemed like a backyard party.
