Not Worth It

by HookahGuy

This place is simply in the wrong part of town. And in this economy, no one wants $14 cocktails, especially in the East Village. The staff is good-looking but has a snooty air about them, again misplaced in this neighborhood. The food is like any you'd get in a Thai restaurant down the street for half the price.

Unless you're trying to get busy with a girl impressed by pink leather couches, don't bother.

What is it?

by ReadIcculus

I had a really bad experience here. To be fair, I had high expectations for this place based on the design, location and menu items and prices. But we quickly discovered that the food is glorified bar fare, inconsistent and often greasy. There is a burger on the menu next to a fancy lobster dish. There are "duck" spring rolls that taste like the cheapest chinese take-out next to foie gras. These people cant decide who to cater to, and end up alienating everyone. And this weird old-timey jazz music was playing that made me feel like I was in a Woody Allen montage, and that our server was going to comically slip on a banana peel with zany sound effects. Strange.

Decent Food, Great Atmosphere

by PHBalanced

Its hard to wrap my head around this place and imagine who is behind it, because some aspects of it seem well planned out and expensive and some seem glaringly undeveloped and cheap..

I stick with the small plates, some of which were good and some of which need work. The duck dumplings were amazing, the bamboo heart ones disappointing. The calamari was spicy, tender and tasty, as was a chicken salad creation served on cucumber slices. But the mango shrimp croquettes I was excited about had a big chunk of mango in the middle and I had to cut them with a knife - the mango should be chopped and a croquette soft.. Little details like that are off in a generally interesting menu.

The highlight of the place is the atmosphere, the special cocktails and good-looking if obnoxious people.. I prefer it as a lounge with some nice snacks so far.
