What People Are Saying About White Star

Milk and Honey maven Sasha Petraske returns, at this reboot of former hip-hop hangout King Size. The colorful Lee Quinones murals have been wallpapered over, and geometric Moroccan lanterns known as white stars dangle from the ceiling. Like previous cocktail-heavy Petraske ventures, this railroad bar's focus is elaborate cocktail concoctions--from absinthe to perfectly executed caipirinhas. Order a glass of Swiss brand Kubler, and a vested barkeep plops a sugar cube onto a slotted spoon and drizzles icy water into the liquor, creating a pearly, tongue-numbing treat that tastes illicitly…
dancing!

We had a lot of fun, drinking champagne, dancing with friends on a great music! You should make a birthday party or at least New Year's Eve with I bet is going to be wild!
Great addition to the South of Delancey bar scene

Gotta love this place - I can get a milk and honey quality old fashioned or Boddington's on draft with a great bourbon - or some absinthe. It's got something for whatever mood you are in. And it's got all the familiar faces from Petraske's other joints behind the bar.
Great atmosphere for great drinks and good conversation

Heard that there was a new bar in town that specialized in absinthe and wanted to give it a try. Upon walking in around 1030 sat night, we were a little dissapointed; the place was very small, no music, only one bartender behind the bar. We figured well, were here so well have one drink and then go meet up with friends somewhere else...
Cut to 3 am, we're just walking out 4 1/2 hours later and had called those friends that were somewhere else to come to White Star instead because we were having a great time. The small size made for a very friendly and relaxed environment, the lack of music made it a great place to have actual conversations with your group, the bartender, or people around you. That one bartender was quick, friendly and seemed to do the work of 3 bartenders anywhere else. And now after doing some research I've learned that that bartender was none other than master cocktail artist Sasha Petraske. Considering his high profile I'm now even more impressed, because it was obvious he was working his butt off back there. He had told me that the place is not done being completed yet so things can only get even better!.
White Star is a true gem and I can't wait to go back.
