What People Are Saying About The Jane Hotel

Featured Review

The third installment from the owners of the Maritime and the Bowery Hotels, the recently renovated Jane Hotel draws jet-setting recessionistas with 200 cabin-like rooms that provide shabby chic accommodations in the West Village. Priced at under $100, 50-square-foot singles come equipped with air-conditioning, a flat screen television and Wi-Fi. For a few extra bucks, snag a room in the west wing with sweeping views of the Hudson River. Many fixtures and furnishings have been upgraded yet still retain their authentic character, while the hallways are still a bit dank and dingy.

Editor's Tips

Fun Fact:
Survivors of the Titanic crew were held at the hotel, which was built in 1907, while the American inquiry of the sinking was conducted.
The Extras:
The rooms, designed to resemble ship's quarters, feature flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi.
Know Before You Go:
Bring your shower shoes. Although a few larger rooms have private bathrooms, most guests share clean and eco-friendly baths.

  1. In the middle of a construction zone, guests and SRO tenants have to walk through dangerous hallways, get scalded by extremely hot water, and deal with an extremely rude staff.

BED BUGS BEWARE

by warehouse501

wow, so what does it take to see management at this place. I stayed there this weekend and could not sleet at all because well it ONE BIG PARTY there, so beware, then awoke to A MILLION BED BUG BITES.

approached the front desk to speak with a manager, whom the desk clerk spoke to through the door, and the manager said that i should email the complaint and he will respond in that fashion.

ahhhhh OK see ya Jane

Horrible experience

by NYC Underground

The worst place I have ever been to. Went last night to the Jane Hotel Ballroom. The guys at the door were extremely rude making us wait for 30 minutes telling us "it's not open yet" at 1 am. Then a man in a wheel chair was swept to the side while three random guys were allowed to go in. Then the man running the door finally comes back around to the handicapped gentleman and was extremely rude and said to the rest of the people waiting. Private event tonight. Sorry people but why didn't you say that in the first place especially to someone who couldn't walk.

I have lived in NYC for 10 years and because of this I am boycotting the Jane and telling everyone I know not to go there or stay in the hotel due to their lack of class.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Disrespectful people at the door

I will never stay ANYWHERE else in NYC!

by Jesspitale

The rooms are small but thats seriously the only downfall. I am a 22 year old female and while planning my trip, was obviously mostly concerned with safety. The rooms have two locks which can only be locked from the inside and the only way to enter the hotel is through the front lobby so I always felt extremely safe. There is also a heavy duty safe under the bed for your laptop or jewelry. The service was spectacular, I arrived too early for check-in so they held my luggage for me! The bathrooms are ALWAYS clean and are newly renovated. If you're not particular about your soap, shampoo, or conditioner, they are all provided for you in the showers. The rooms come with a comfy robe to wear to and from the showers, AND they also provide you with shower shoes! Internet service, flat-screen TV, and iHome all in rooms. My trip was in the end of May; however, the air-conditioner worked great and the room also has a fan just incase. 6 outlets throughout the room and they even offer room service. I'm not sure where these other people are coming up with their negative reviews but, anyway, I stayed for two weeks and I absolutely loved it (and I'm picky)!

  • Pros: Friendly service, clean bathrooms

Not worth the attitude

by JennyD

I went a couple weeks after it opened - the bar is nice, the louge is big & open and very cool. However, at 10pm on a Saturday night it was very EMPTY in side... and yet they made 2 of our friends (blonde girls dressed to go out, no less...) stand outside and would not let them in saying it was too crowded. We eventually left because they were not letting our friends in and even though about 6 of us walked out, they STILL did not let the measly 2-3 other people in line go in. Just trying to create a scene for themselves with a line outside... Ridiculous.

  • Pros: atmosphere
