pleasantly surprised!. it is rare that i actually remember to write a good review, but i thought this place deserves it after a very pleasant night out. i've been to plenty of sushi places and can tell what's fresh or not because my father is in the business, and despite it's small space, the sushi was very fresh, clean, tasty and unpretentious. staff were very friendly and a bonus for me was the unlimited free green tea they served (i'm used to getting charged for it in the city especially). portions are huge, not in terms of how many pieces you get in a roll (the standard is 6 for regular rolls and about 8 for the special ones) - but huge as in each piece had a lot in it. my friends and i ordered quite a few rolls, and i also ordered the tempura soba noodles - and let me say, the portion for that was enough for 2 people. tempura came separately (usually they dunk it in the soup) and came with a variety of vegetable tempura as well as the usual 2 pieces of shrimp tempura). it's a great value for what they serve. i will definetly go back.

one note: when they say "spicy" roll, it really isn't spicy. compared to other places, it really isn't spicy at all so if that's what you're looking for, then you might want to ask for more spicy sauce.

another note: bathroom is very clean and modern. you know a bathroom says a lot about a restaurant! in terms of cleanliness especially...

i would recommend this restaurant to people who are foodies, looking for good portions, like quality food without paying a high price for it.

Creative Sushi, Great Prices. Okay, so this is one of the best sushi menus I have seen yet in the city. Two strong recommendations: the roll with banana and the BBQ calamari. We landed at Yoshi on a Thursday with two friends visiting around 7:30 and lucked into the private back room. Service staff was very efficient and pleasant. Another pro: Kirin 12oz bottles are only $2.50 with the big boys at $4.50. Summary: four of us ate ourselves full with drinks for less than $80. Grab some drinks at Drop Off Services and then head down Ave A to Yoshi for a cheap date.

GREAT VALUE!. When I first saw that this restaurant had opened in my neighborhood I thought "Oh no.. not another sushi place, how about something more original..." but, I decided to pop in and check it out, as I was tired of the abrupt manner of the nearby Sushi Lounge staff.

I have to admit, the food is super fresh! and the prices are cheap, cheap, cheap... Great value, great friendly service, have been back several times since.

The restaurant has a lovely authentic (low seating) private room at the back, perfect for get togethers, or birthday dinners - there is also a private room that (I believe) seats 12 - which is also very nicely set-up.

The main dining area is compact but exceptionally clean and tidy. This is my new sushi favorite in the 'hood - the delivery is super speedy too!

a MUST if you like great fish and excellent service. There are very few places like this...with such great service and ALWAYS the freshest fish. Good prices for such quality food and the specials are fantastic, too. Can't wait to come back and use one of the 2 private rooms. Truly one of our favorite places to have a night out!
