CHASE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE.
I have been witness to chase Bank's bad customer service.
I have been trying to help a friend get some information about a large sum of money which disappeared from his Chase checking account immediately after he made a small withdrawal from a Chase ATM in Times Square. This happened over two weeks ago and was reported immediately. Every day he has gone in person to see if any progress has been made in finding the money which disappeared (leaving him with $11.00 in his account). I have gone with him and watched him stand by the customer service desk for long periods while the bank "manager" calls an 800 number, always with the same result: NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE. He is not even offered a chair. He is told that "Security is investigating it". For over two weeks? He has received no phone or e-mail contact. No updates. No offers of help. This is unbelievable but true.
Chase lost my money and has done nothing for 2 weeks.
Two weeks ago, $700.00 disappeared from my Chase checking account after I made a $20.00 withdrawal in Times Square.
I reported it immediately and repeatedly. Nothing has been done and 2 weeks have passed.
I have received no follow-up information, no e-mail, no telephone calls or progress reports from Chase.
All they do is let me stand on a marble floor for 45 minutes each time while they call some 800 number which gives no answer. No one helps me or gives me any hope of recovering the money that disappeared from my account.
DO NOT RECOMEND. What a terrible experience using Chase Manhattan Bank at the 3 Times Square Location. They were always very hard to get ahold of and I always dealt wtih so many different people that I lost track of them, and feel I also lost privacy. They also lacked in positive communciation, and reinforcement. It was almost like a chore dealing with them, instead of wanting to interact with them and learning about their services. I feel that they didnt give me the time that the should have, as well as the effort, and I feel that THEY could take a lesson or 20 from CITIBANK. I was their customer, and I didnt feel they treated me that way at all.
Good Customer Service. It's nice to find a bank that tries to make their plans work for you. Top to bottom, they always have plenty of good staff around. Their plans are OK, and pretty easy to understand. They are clearly interested in signing you up for many things (financial advising, credit cards, etc.), but they take no for an answer very gracefully. Also, they gave me a Select Banking account for the first 6 months without fees even though my balance isn't at the minimum. And phone help is excellent. Citibank should take notes.
