HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & LIES. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I live a few blocks away from here and started ordering from them this week. Friday night, I stayed in and ordered the ropa vieja w/ yuca fongo. It was actually pretty good, although there could have been a bit more sauce.

So, Sunday I had a few friends over and we decided to order from here again. We ordered the Paella ($22) which is supposed to come with lobster and another ropa... total bill came to about $43 with tip.

When our Paella arrived, there was no lobster to be found. There was an empty shell of part of the lobster body (the part you can't eat). So I called the restaurant hoping they would send the delivery guy back with a lobster claw or something of the sort... I wasn't expecting there to be an entire lobster, but at least something edible.

After being on the phone with an extremely rude hostess for about 15 minutes, I decided to give up and just never order from them again. I explained the situation and the woman kept telling me the "chef said he put lobster in it"... apparently, the fact that I was looking at my paella, void of lobster and just spent $43, plus another 23 two days earlier made no difference. She tried to offer me a dessert. I explained, I didn't pay $22 for a dessert.

These people are rude and they lie on their menu. There is much better tasting paella in the neighborhood. I would urge you to try Cafe Con

Great Food with reasonable prices!. This place is great! The food is delicious and reasonable. I usually order food to take out but every now and then I stop by for lunch or dinner. I have yet to be disappointed. My only concern is when you place and order for delivery make certain you have exact change. The delivery personnel does not usually have change for $20. Otherwise you're off to a great time, great food and great fun. Enjoy!

All that I asked for... I just wanted cheap caribbean food!. I just wanted to eat some fine caribbean style food with efficient prices and Tropical Sensation was it! The decor was very cool including the nice art on the wall and the amazing mural on the ceiling. I am big on good customer service and I was treated kind from when I entered to when I left. The food presentation is really creative and tasty MMM and the $5 mojitos are not that bad either! lol I can't wait to go back... Great place to go on a date or even if you just want appetizers and drinks... $9 Grey Goose drinks!!! This was my first message, but I had to share my experience.

I recommend the restaurant play some cool island videos on the TV rather than just random TV stations, but hey they've only been in business for 5 months :) Also, I recommend you brush up on your spanish to pronounce the name of the dishes, but they explain each in english

Amazed!!!. Let me just say that if you are in for a night of good food and great ambiance then you must go to Tropical Sensation. I highly recommend the churrascote or chicken a la parilla which are both cooked over open fire and they both come with your choice of sides (rice and beans is a must). Also, you can order anything you don't see on the menu, and they will make it!! Perfect if you want to take out a date and have a good meal and not spend a fortune. Testing out drinks are also a must, especially the freshly made sangria! I personally like the flavored mojitos or their french martini's. Great location as well if you are near Columbia University or the northwest entrance to Central Park. Parking could be rough if you are getting there by car. # 1 train is nearby.
