I had a great party at Amsterdam 106. I decided to through my Birthday party at Amsterdam 106 and had the night of my life.It exceeded my expectations. The staff was super nice, the drinks were great and the overall atmosphere was fun and hip.I'm definitely going to be back for more.I give the place a Triple A rating!!!!
New Cool place to hang out. chill crowd and friendly bartenders, nice alternative to the snobby bars of NYC"Defiantly coming back !!!
Friendly Staff.
I was extremely surprised to read the review about Tim the bartender. I waited for my friends for over half an hour at the bar, and Tim who was working the bar that night kept me company. He didn't come on to me, made me laugh, and recommended the Shakshuka, which is a must. the absolute opposite of what I read in an earlier review.
My friends and I ended up having a great time.
I will definitely be going back
HAPPY HAPPY HOUR. I wanted to order food but after seeing the menu I decided to check the place out in person. That was a great decision as they gave away free mussels during happy hour, DELICIOUS!!!!
Healthy Menu. I was surprised about the variety of healthy foods they have. You must try the "Shakshuka", which is an exotic alternative and super healthy.
The Staff. Bar has great potential...good food with a decent beer selection. Friendly staff with a nice atmosphere even has a cheap jukebox with great selections, however on one occasion I was confronted with a very rude bartender. You may want to avoid nights he is working because he is very arrogant and aggressive. He even went so far as to abuse customers, not only verbally but physically. On second thought you may want to avoid this bar all together. I think his name was Tim.
A friendly Morningside Heights bar that caters to beer connoisseurs and hungry locals alike..
In Short
The former site of dingy dive bar Night Cafe has gotten a total makeover with Amsterdam 106. The bar, owned by one of the proprietors of West Side haunt Dive Bar, features 24 beers on tap and plenty more by the bottle. And while beer is definitely a focus, the owners have not forgotten about the food, offering an impressive bar menu that includes a wide variety of cheese platters, lobster macaroni and cheese, and classic pub grub like fish and chips and burgers. While daily happy hour deals provide incentive to come in early, a kitchen that stays open until 2am also makes it easy to stay late.
Hits: Hard-to-find beers, tasty food and a well-stocked jukebox make for a classic (and classy) English-style pub atmosphere.
Misses: This is a great spot for locals, but it's unlikely to become a destination for anyone who's not already nearby.
