This place offered exactly what I needed- an excellent therapeutic massage and a calm an upscale atmosphere. . The staff was very accommodating, friendly. The woman working my muscles checked in at least a few times to see how I was feeling, if I needed more or less pressure, where I preferred to have the massage focused. I will definitely return here. The hour was 80.00 plus a tip of ten.

My favorite hair salon in Queens!. I'm so surprised someone said they had a bad experience. First of all, this is probably one of the most affordable high end salons in the city. I had partial highlights done for about $100, and the haircut about $70 too. They did an EXECELLENT job. The guy that cut my hair did it dry, and it's the best haircut I've had in the city. I've been to Bumble and Bumble, Red Door, Cutler, and Warren Tricomi to name a few....all in the name of a quest to find a great place. I finally found it. Beyond this, everyone is so friendly. There is no snobbery in this establishment. Everyone I spoke to went above and beyond, and they have a loyal customer in me now.

After many color nightmares, I went to Shade after a friend recommended I try the salon. I was looking for a place in Astoria that was reasonable and professional and my friend is very particular and her hair always looked good so I decided to give the salon a try. Michelle understood right away what I was looking to do with my color and two hours later, I was the shade of blonde I love again! Thank you!

Exquisite Spa. What an experience! I am 5 months pregnant and have looked all over for a TRUE ORGANIC spray tan. Most spas don"t know what ingredients are in their products and I truly don"t want to chance anything when it comes to my baby. I called and spoke to the owner who was very informative. She gave me a list of the products which I showed my doctor and he approved. I went in for a spray tan feeling confident about the product that was being used. Thank you so much Shade Bar for making me feel beautiful.

bad customer service. I asked about the natural "organic" ingredients in the sprays 2 times and i never got an answer! How am I supposed to go there and spend money when they do not live up to their name?!

best facial& wax with Elisa. By far i had the best facial ever.. I`ve been around the city and tried alot of facials and finally i found someone who understands my needs and my skin never looked better. I had ELISA and i highly recommend her.. My experience was similar to the first-class treatment I have eperienced i Europe. Also, the waxing didn't hurt at all,even in the most sensitive areas and i wasn't red after at all. I love the place and i will be returning!!

Great "sun-kissed" wedding day. On my wedding day friends asked me, "When did you go away?!" The spray tan I got at Shade Bar was THAT natural-looking. I only went once previously to check it out; meant to come back and try different shades. But I knew what a great job Maria did the first time and totally trusted that it would look fabulous for my big day—and it did. They cover all the details (cover your nails with latex, dab at wrists, etc to avoid odd lines). And you CANNOT beat the fact that the spray tan is applied by an experienced person and not a machine. Also, she didn't wear a mask and she does this all the time so you know this spray is not harmful. (Small bonus: The mango scent is great--not cloying.) Bottom line: Definitely a great experience and you will look great. Thanks Maria!

SANDRA - AN EYEBROW WAXING SPECIALIST FOR GUYS AND MORE !. Ok - so this was my first time going to SHADE BAR after reading reviews here on Citysearch. I wanted to get my Eyebrows shaped and was not sure where to go.

Considering all the obvious problems that people have when waxing their eyebrows - especially us guys - I wanted to make sure that I did not go somewhere where I would end up walking out with -- pencil thin eyebrows looking like "surprise eyebrows".

I called and spoke with SANDRA on the phone and I explained to her that I wanted to get my eyebrows shaped BUT needed someone that also does guys eyebrows. She was very very friendly, professional and knew exactly what to say to relax me and to make me want to go to the Spa. I wanted to go right there and then and she told me if I could get there within 10 minutes, she would do them for me. And so I did.

I walked into the SHADE BAR SPA and was immediately impressed with the color and the environment. VERY VERY CLEAN and WARM and INVITING. Sandra met me and right away made me feel comfortable.

We went into the room for the waxing and 15 minutes later my eyebrows were done and looked great. She knows what she is doing and clearly (just look at her eyebrows) knows what a great eyebrow shape is all about.

She is also very very friendly, has a great smile and is genuinely interested in making you feel comfortable and happy with the end result. The wax that is used is Organic -- so yes NO REDNESS after the fact !!!

In ONE WORD - PERFECT !! If you want a place for great Eyebrow Waxing (and I am sure everything else there is GREAT too !!!) try it out.

Looking forward to my next Eyebrow shaping !

Best Spa in Astoria. I can highly recommend the spa.

Once you come in the door, the ambience is very inviting and relaxing.

I hade a body scrub, it was very relaxing and later on my skin was super smooth.

Very friendly staff. Fair prices compare to Manhattan.

Location good to reach.

best facial i ever had!. I've been to spas like Bliss and The Red Door on fifth avenue. This facial topped all the rest. The ingredients are organic, and for once I didn't look like I had been beaten when I left. My skin was soft and immaculate. I was ready to fall asleep on the table it was so relaxing. The staff is so nice, you're in there waiting for the catch, but there isn't any! Finally a "city quality" facial on Ditmars. The price is right too. I really cannot think of one negative thing to say about this place. If only they did brazilians and nails though.... The Hawaiin Honey Taro facial is a incredible!! Absolutley going back soon.
