Disappointed.... What this business can improve on...

1. Was not told of price changes until services were rendered

My friends and I drove hours to experience this salon and visit an old friend. They did not notify us of the dramatic price changes on the phone or before the service. Very shady.

2. Service is subpar at best

Staff seems unfriendly and depressed.

3. Drinks from a very small solo cup

If I'm paying $250 for a cut and color I'd like to have a substantial drink not a dinky cup.

4. New York prices in New Jersey

Prices were way too high for the area

5. One stylist per THREE customers

I counted three or four customers in which he was servicing simulataneously. If you've been to any other salon you'll notice ONE stylist caters to JUST YOU.

Verdict would be 2 1/2 stars. It's not "Yep, it's good" but just "good"

Overpriced, Under-talented, and Overall Poor. Note: Owner had co-workers pose as concerned potential clients email me further wasting my time in a very sketchy way. I googled this woman's name EladiaAlvarado to find that she has a website showcasing an event she did with this salon.

Preface:

Please do not take my word for it. This is just my honest assessment. Form your own opinion and do your own research!

Service:

Prior to arrival, setting up an appointment with Haruo Noro salon is a hassle in itself. I'm busy throughout the day with tasks and obligations, so waiting 15 minutes for the non-English speaking receptionist (not to sound racist) to search for service prices is inexcusable. Maybe it's because I'm a business person but shouldn't they be properly trained at the very least on prices?! Recently a close friend said they raised the already inflated prices for women's cuts to $120. This is quite the norm for this salon as prices are consistently and drastically being altered regardless of customer loyalty.

Upon arrival, you will find the location to be less than stellar. The floor is riddled with hair which poses cautionary hazards and the venue is very tiny compared to salons in neighboring areas. The establishment is in a barren part of Ridgewood, New Jersey. When you walk in, don't expect to be warmly greeted at the door. Not one of the employees asked to take my coat or offer me a drink, so I sat on the couch and read a magazine. After waiting an hour after my originally scheduled time slot, I sat to get my hair washed.

During the cut Haruo seemed very rushed and busy. This made me incredibly off ease in what they advertise as a "tranquil environment." To see the stylist negligently parading around the salon made me incredibly nervous. When you go to a salon you want to feel stress-free from the rigors of everyday life, not weary and uncomfortable. You want the stylist to pamper and take care of you. Not to mention that I was not given a beverage throughout this whole fiasco. Maybe the owner should have a talk with him... wait he is the owner!

Business advice: Don't overbook!

While I was getting a blow out, the assistant burnt my scalp with the dryer. All this and I paid close to $300 just for a cut and color in New JERSEY!

It turned out to be nothing like the reviews I had read on this site. Which really begs to question whether the 14 some odd reviews (hmm 14 facebook friends "like" this) were per request by an employer.

Conclusion:

Honestly, DO NOT take my word for it. Click on the previous authors below (read the reviews below in fragmented sentences and put two/ two together hmm Non English speaking employees). Call for an appointment and speak with the unfriendly non-English speaking staff. Ask about prices and why they have been raised even for service loyal customers. Check out the venue and location. Observe the staff and stylists as they negligently walk around the establishment with no purpose or morale.

After you review this business let me know if it holds true to this statement,

"At Haruo Noro Salon clients are pampered as soon as they step through the doors. This intimate, high-end salon is encased in a luxurious space that exudes style and sophistication"

Fancy description but before you post it make sure you can deliver... Business 101

Haruo noro salon. I just did my hair in this salon and i am very pleast. My hair have never looked better in my whole life. The staff is professional.

New York Hair Stylist In Ridgewood, NJ. If you are looking for a top notch, NY Hair Stylists in Ridgewood NJ see Haruo.I have enjoyed Haruo's "work of art" haircuts for about 8 years and I am told my hair is difficult and grows very quickly. He is truly the most talented stylists that I have ever experienced. If I was unable to see him, my hair cuts never compared with his talents. His extensive training and work experience in the top NY Salons has brought him to the level of success that he enjoys.

The salon has a relaxing atmosphere, friendly and talented staff ,all trained with his very high standards. The shampoo massage is incredible.

You will ALWAYS get a great cut, color, or style. Haruo Noro Salon is gorgeous!!! Very relaxing & tranquil. The staff are very attentive & welcoming.

I cannot say enough about Haruo Noro. Haruo is extremely talented & professional & he will make you feel as if you are a model!!!

Anyone looking for a new salon to try Haruo Noro Salon is the only salon I would recommend. I will never go anywhere else!!!!

Haruo Noro is simply AMAZING!!!

Haruo's the best I've found, WORLDWIDE!. I first met Haruo when he was at Trump Plaza's Oscar Blandi Salon. My hair was always perfect after Haruo cut & styled it. I then followed him to Rita Hazan's and finally to his very own salon in Ridgewood. I was often on tour as a performer, but would wait to see Haruo because I wouldn't trust anyone else with my tresses. Now I live in Rome, Italy and I'm rarely in the states, but whenever I do visit, I make sure to drop by and see Haruo. He's the only one I trust with my locks, worldwide.

Left feeling like a Star!!. Haruo and his team are true professionals and attended to my every need. Haruo is extremely talented and absolutely meticulous when it comes to cut and color. You feel like he's an artist working on your hair, however, without the artist attitude. He's very approachable and listened to what I wanted while giving me his suggestions. I left feeling glamorous. I'm a fan!!!

The salon was bright, happy, and luxury. The little Japanese snacks were also a special treat.

Best haircut in North Jersey. I was introduced to Haruo by my sister, who requires near perfection from her hairstylist. Well, I got the most incredible haircut that I've ever had. I have thick curly hairl that is difficult to manange, so it's difficult to get a consistently good haircut...but Haruo did an amazing job. My hair turns out beautiful every time I style it. You feel like you're in the hands of an artist when Haruo is cutting your hair.

The salon is so clean and bright and his assistant is also great.

Highly recommend you check it out...you will not be disappointed!!

The only hairstylist my wife and I have used for 12+ years. My wife discovered Haruo shortly after moving to Northern NJ from NYC. Up until a few months ago, he was only available on Sundays in Ridgewood NJ, working out of different salons that opened for his clients. He has a huge following and has worked in NYC in some of the finest salons. He recently opened his own salon and now we are no longer limited to Sunday appointments. Haruo is a perfectionist and has great taste. His cutting skills are exemplary and my wife claims he is the best colorist she has ever used. This salon is on a par with any service you would find in NYC. Attentive staff, immaculate facility, high design sensibility. You cannot go wrong!

Great Hair Experience. I just had a wonderful experience at Haru Noro. Not only did I get a great cut, but the service was outstanding and the place was impeccable. I recommend it highly.
