Welcome to Mint Salon, a new hair salon concept located on 38th St between 8th and 9th Ave in Midtown Manhattan. Mint Salon is a upscale

Mint Salon specializes in haircut and hair styling, up-do, hair color & relaxer services.

Ask yourself - Is your hair in MINT condition? …
Mark at Mint is a phenom. I have that fine wavy hair that never behaves unless the humidity is at a perfect 87%. But Mark finds a way to work with it and it's always perfection. He even color-corrected a self-inflicted mistake in no time flat and I always leave with a great blow-out. Plus he's fun to talk to.
I used to go (always with trepidation) to a frenetic, pseudo-chic salon on Varick & King but now look forward to the relaxing, warm, down-to-earth yet clean, bright and stylish setting in the smaller Mint Salon.
Yay for Mint Salon! Mark Perez has
been my stylist for many years. He is innovative, yet patient and listens to your ideas for new styles, he's a master at cutting hair - but checks in with you along the way. Important if you're as OCD when it comes to hair cuts like I am. Mark is also such a relaxed and easy going guy - and worth mentioning, hilariously funny. I've been recommending him to both women and men friends over the years, and everyone has stuck with him and loves his work!
Well worth the trek to the little oasis in the garment district. The loft like space with sleek decor, and corner windows with open views give the salon a peaceful & airy feel. The staff there are all friendly and hospitable and make you feel very well taken care of. I look forward to each visit!
No one touches my hair except for super
stylist, Mark Perez. I have had disastrous cuts from exclusive salons in the city, but for 10 years Mark is my sure thing. He does a beauty consultation with me every time and makes recommendations and tweaks based on my changing needs and lifestyle.
I have high maintenance Asian hair (not all of us were blessed with straight, shiny hair) but Mark always works with the texture to give me a chic but easy to maintain cut and style.
It's a plus that he is one of the nicest people on the earth! A true NYC find.
Best Haircut. Very happy with service. Highly recommend.
The Best Haircut and Color EVER!!. Having gotten a disastrous cut and color a week before, I was desperate to find someone to make me look like a normal human being. My hair was carnival clown red, frizzy and a mess. I used Around Me on my iPhone to find a salon in my neighborhood, and went to Mint Salon. Charlene and Allison undid the damage immediately. The new cut was perfect--very flattering and easy to maintain. The rinse softened the red into a pleasant auburn. I have found my NY salon!! These women are artists. Perfection.
Always a great haircut from Allison Burr!. Allison Burr at Mint Salon is an artist when she’s working with my hair! She cuts to style, taking time to make sure the look is right for me. Not only does my hair look great after she’s finished cutting it but it grows in beautifully during the weeks in between my appointments with her. I consulted with Allison about a year ago because I was looking for someone to help me transition from years of coloring my hair to the real me. At age 61, I just felt I didn’t look like myself anymore and I knew there was a beautiful silver/white natural color to my hair, waiting to come out. Because I wanted to do this “cold turkey” with no more dyes, Allison advised me to let my hair grow out naturally for four months and then come back and see her. I followed her advice and she gave me a wonderful short cut that first time, getting rid of most of the dye. I'm a loyal client now. My hair looks so super that someone even stopped me on the street recently to ask where I got my haircut. It was a real pleasure to recommend Allison at Mint. She’s a gem!
My haircut gives me PMS.
I wish my experience had been half as good as all the great reviews here. Admittedly, I have fine, wavy hair which can be difficult to cut but Allison seemed like she understood exactly what I'd wanted--using my natural curl for an inverted bob, long enough in front to wear behind my ears. A cut I've successfully gotten elsewhere many times before.
I was really clear and she spoke at long lengths about how she learned at Vidal Sassoon to listen to customers. She was so convincing I walked out sure she'd just styled my hair weirdly ( which is always what happens to me at salons.) I got home to realize that she'd cut so much on the sides in such a strange, blunt way to mid-ear, that the sides pop out like dog ears. The front is so awkward I look like my toupee is falling forward and I now mysteriously have a weird cowlick in back. Unfortunately, the whole thing is so short there's basically no curl left, and I can't even wear it up. To top it off, my hair grows at a glacial pace (which I also told her) and I'm loathe to get it cut even shorter to fix it so I'm stuck with it for the next 6 months.
Hence, I call it my PMS cut: it's so aggravating it makes me want to punch a hole to the earth's core every time I catch a glance of it. Some comments from friends:" Oh. You got your hair cut. Huh." "It'll grow back." and my favorite "Did you lose a bet?" Yeah. It's bad.
I LOVE MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I have been highlighting my dark brown hair blonde FOR YEARS and was never completely satisfied with the results. I learned to expect/accept the "orangey pieces" that i thought were unavoidable....UNTIL TODAY!!!!!
Charlene TRANSFORMED my color!!! My hair is blonde/ sunkissed/PERFECT without a TRACE of orange!!! I got several compliments as I walked to the subway!! The salon is beautiful....close to all trains....Charlene, Allison and the rest of the staff are so cool and down to earth. The whole experience was GREAT! I will refer EVERYONE who will listen to this salon!! TRY IT! you will be hooked too!!!
Best Salon in New York. I think I have tried every salon in New York City, but I have finally found the ONE!!! I went to mint salon on a model call and it has been one great appointment after another. Charlene is amazing and transformed my hair color and it has never looked better. She listens to what you like and don't like about your hair and does not let you leave the salon unless you absolutely love you hair. She also recently did the Keratin treatment and it was a life saver. My hair is silkier, stronger, and no frizz. Plus it takes me no time to do my hair. Which is amazing, as a model being hair and make-up ready at the last minute sometimes. Allison is also a gem, she cuts bangs better then anyone I know and her cuts I hear have a cult following!! My only regret is not coming to this salon soon!!! Run, don"t walk
Amazing hair cut for very difficult hair!.
I have very thick, unruly, hard to manage hair and have been loathe to get a haircut somewhere new. I work for a makeup company and my coworker urged me to go to Mint after she worked with Allison at a few fashion shows (and since my friend very thick hair, knows many people in the biz and swears by them I thought it was worth a shot). I am SO HAPPY I listened to her because this is the best cut (and styling) I have had in my life. I went to Allison and not only did she totally listen to my ramblings on what I did/ didn't like or want she knew how to work with my type of hair immediately and what the best cut would be. I know have nice long layers that look seamless, not choppy, and work whether my hair is naturally curly or if I straighten it.
They also suggested a Keratin treatment and gloss coat for my hair that I will be going back for. After going to Mint I actually look forward to getting my hair cut instead of dreading it!
