“Even their desert was great.”
“Not only is this the best Indian food I have ever had, but is one of the best meals I have had since living in NYC (and I eat out a lot and have lived here for 5+ years).”
“Taj Tribeca is the best Indian restaurant I've been to.”
“In all, if you are looking for a great authentic Indian restaurant with superb service you should go here.”
“For a main course I had lamp chops - they were marinated and had a spicy sauce - the meat was tender and sauce was very flavorful (it was also a huge portion for the price).”
WARNING: Highly addictive food!.
Taj Tribeca is the best Indian restaurant I've been to. Ever.
I've dined there the last 3 times I've been in New York and the experience hasn't dulled for me yet. I wish another one would open up in Toronto, then I'd go every week.
The food is delicious and you can tell they take great pride in their food, recipes and ingredients. The waiter was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions and gave great suggestions.
The crab cakes were divine. As were the seekh kebabs: perfectly moist and spiced just right. Try it with a wholewheat roti and raita. It's awesome! I also really enjoyed the fish masala and eggplant bharta. I had the fish with basmati rice and it had a spicy sour kinda taste, the eggplant i had with naan and it was perfectly smoky and creamy.
I have their menu with me and try to plan what I would like to check out the next time I'm there. The lamb chops sound really good. In fact everything I've eaten here has been exceptional.
I am glad they've changed their name from 'Indian Express' to 'Taj Tribeca' though. The new name suits the restaurant better and doesn't sound 'fast-food' like the old one.
In all, if you are looking for a great authentic Indian restaurant with superb service you should go here.
Best Indian food I have ever had.
The food is amazing! Not only is this the best Indian food I have ever had, but is one of the best meals I have had since living in NYC (and I eat out a lot and have lived here for 5+ years).
The waiter was friendly and suggested an appetizer and a main course. This may sound strange, but the appetizer was cauliflower that was coated in a spicy sauce and it tasted like my favorite chicken wings? I have no idea how they made it, but it was unbelievable. For a main course I had lamp chops - they were marinated and had a spicy sauce - the meat was tender and sauce was very flavorful (it was also a huge portion for the price). My mouth his watering thinking about them.
You absolutely have to try both dishes, they are like nothing I have ever had.
Quiet lunch spot. I tried the lunch buffet, which didn't have many items, but everything I tried was excellent. They seasoned their meat very well.
Best Indian Food I've Ever had!.
I first noticed this place under renovation while checking out some books from the New Amsterdam Library. I hoped that they're quality would exceed they're fast-food-ish name. It did! The samosa appetizer impressed me and their Lamb anise curry blew me away. I forgot the exact name of the curry but it was awesome! Even their desert was great. It was a lentil/pistachio concoction. Again I forget the exact name (Forgive my ignorant American ways). Instead of an overly sweet thing swimming in liquid sugar, it was a creative, aromatic combination of savory and sweet.
Today I ordered take-out and opening the packages was as exciting as unwrapping Christmas gifts! Every dish I've had from them so far has impressed me.
This restaurant stands out in this area in it's decor and setup. Most places have a take-out bar for the lunch crowd while this place looks like a sit-down and eat place. They're very polite and they will not insist you sit down, so please do not let that intimidate you from ordering take-out.
The quality is well worth the slightly higher-than-average price tag of around $13. Weekdays, they have a lunch buffet that I'm planning on taking advantage of.
Editorial Review. Indian restaurant in Tribeca is anything but fast food as it serves up eclectic colors and unexpected flavors straight from Bombay.
