“Too bad, such a cool place but trashy people.”
“They play the best music (Shout at 2am on a Saturday night is a guaranteed good time) and have really great beer prices - not too many places can beat $5 drinks on a Saturday night.”
Nice Hideout. This place is great if you want to enjoy a book and a drink all alone on a Friday afternoon. There is no one in there until around 5pm so you have the place all to yourself and can curl up on one of their great leather couches. Opt for a mixed drink though, the wine is pretty bad; it's an English Pub!
Place is ok, but apparently no dancing is allowed!.
I went to the Globe on a Friday night to meet up with some friends. Atmosphere and music are ok, but the bouncers are on power trips! I was just dancing with my girl, minding my own business and not bothering anyone, and a bouncer came over and told me I had to leave because I was "drunk." No warning, nothing. I assured him that I wasn't, but had to leave anyway.
I took my friends with me, and he was lame enough to try to convince them to stay! Needless to say, this isn't a place that you should go if you want to let loose.
Am I Back in College?. I used to love the Globe. They play the best music (Shout at 2am on a Saturday night is a guaranteed good time) and have really great beer prices - not too many places can beat $5 drinks on a Saturday night. Lately though, this place seems to be overrun by kids who just graduated college. I'm talking girls making out with each other, people making out and basically all over each other on the couch. Too bad, such a cool place but trashy people.
Excellent Gramercy Hangout.
1880?s Gramercy bar, the Globe, has just opened it?s doors and will quickly become a New York must. The fully restored and modernized bar has retained its charm; and with the combination of friendly and efficient staff and the great venue, the Globe will soon be established in the New York bar scene.
From a cozy fireplace to pew style seats the bar has a warm feel about it. There are two TV?s (but not over powering) as this venue is about friendship and laughter over a few pints. The bar at the back will be an intimate gathering area and a comfortable place for large groups.
The bar will be serving food, I?ll look forward to tasting the menu, if they do the food as well as they?ve restored the bar, then I?ll definitely be dining there.
The Globe can be found on 23rd Street between Lex and 3rd. The last step will be to replace the Grand Saloon sign on the outside, and setup in lights that the Globe is open for business.
Editorial Review. An Irish pub in Murray Hill serves up a plethora of Scotches, bourbons, beers, and a dose of old-world charm.
