  1. The desserts weren't as great in value as the pastas (all approx $7), but my pineapple sorbet was really big and yummy.

Great gem of a restaurant

by Roadman

My wife and I recently got back from New York city and had a great time. We were staying on 47th and 7th and by a great stroke of luck happened to go by Daniela's around supper time. We went in and decided to give it a try. One of the major things we like when we travel is good food. Daniela's was a wonderful eating experience - great menu choices - intimate atmosphere - very pleasant staff and great service. Reasonably priced also.

We were so impressed with our meal that we returned every day for the duration of our time in New York. Their pastas are terrific with the pasta al dente as it should be. The breakfasts are super and they make the best coffee we had there. If you are going to New York, put this gem on your list you will not regret it. We intend to return to New York ourselves and there is no question where we will be dining.

Great Find

by powderpuff

It isn't easy to find a restaurant in Times Square that has really good food, is fairly priced, and has friendly, efficient service.

I had dinner there for the first time last week. This is where I will go whenever I am in the Times Square/Theater area.

Love this place!

Are you seeing a Broadway show and in need of a delicious Italian dinner nearby? *flashes pseudo cheesy Infomercial grin* Well, look no further! Daniela's Trattoria is the perfect place to go! *ques the blinking marquee*

All jokes aside, this is my new go-to spot for pre-theater meals. With pastas ranging in the teens, you can't beat the price and food quality. The restaurant's located in the heart of the Theater District, and the space is relatively big (basically, NOT a hole-in-the-wall). Even the pedibikes have got it right: I've seen them recommend and drop passengers off here.

Hands-down, my favorite dish is the Fusilli Primavera. It's a mid-priced pasta ($15) chock full of fresh, crunchy garden vegetables. There must be some secret ingredient in the olive oil and garlic sauce because it tastes amazing (Could be fleur de sel or just regular salt). Give it a chance! I honestly believe it'll blow you away. I've also had the Rigatoni Amatriciana (fresh tomato, onion, Italian bacon & spices), but it turned out to be a bit heavy. This is best shared with someone.

The desserts weren't as great in value as the pastas (all approx $7), but my pineapple sorbet was really big and yummy. It was packed on a quarter-slab of pineapple rind. Icy and citrus-y... perfect for a hot summer day.

Great place! Loved the food!!

by Galt79

Excellent! I was greeted with a "welcome" and a smile immediately upon entering and shown to a nice table. The menu is excellent and I decided on the Chicken Picatta. Great choice! This was flavorful and every bite made me want more. Even the bread was delicious. The picatta came with mixed vegetables which were done just right and the potatoes were even better that the vegetables. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

I would have given 5 stars but the staff never came by to see if everything was satisfactory. Although it was and they probably knew it I like them to check.

Great food + Decor

by NYCfloyd

What made it unique or special?Daniela's Trattoria came highly recommended by the box office of the Play we went to see a couple weeks ago & they totally steered us right!

We were looking for a locals go-to spot for good pre theater dinner that would offer actually decent-tasting food w/out the touristy rip-off prices & this fit the bill perfectly....the Play Bill that is (tee hee)

Couldn't decide between the Gnocchi or the Penne Arrabiata so the waitress goes, why not get the Gnocchi w/ the Arrabiata sauce? BRILLIANT!!

Tasty little pillows that were just the teeniest bit chewy (aka - great texture!) and the spiciness of the sauce w/ it's cherry tomatoes was outstanding.....I've found my new fav gnocchi-sauce combo! Takes the heaviness of the gnocchi & the lightness of the spicy tomato sauce & it's the best of both worlds!

Friend got the Penne ala Vodka w/ sausage added & her plate was likewise licked clean.

So flavorful, pasta cooked perfectly w/ the perfect amount of sauce, & scalding hot - we knew it was prepared fresh.....as if the open kitchen didn't clue us in.

Wish we had had room for dessert as their case looked way too tempting - but time was not on our side & we had to dash to our Play.....but next time for sure!!

Tons of people getting takeout & a full restaurant. We felt very lucky to have found Daniela's!
