Susur Lee, Canada's most famous chef, brings his Asian fusion cooking to the swanky Thompson Hotel on the Lower East Side. The food is genuinely exotic, even for jaded New York foodies who've seldom seen the likes of the caramelized wild sablefish with mustard green relish and salmon roe, the taro puffs, the celestial seafood tofu, and other dramatic-looking and expertly executed pan-Asian dishes. Between the food and the highly developed cocktail program, you could easily forget the preposterous decor--such as the huge booths and giant crushed velvet parachutes hanging above the dining room.

My friends and I went to Shang for dinner last night and had the most amazing experience!! The decor makes you feel like you are somewhere special, not your average restaurant. The staff was so attentive and knowledgeable! The food! The food was the best part!! I had the Rice Paper roll and the Chick Pea Onion Tempura as appetizers and OMG they were delicious!! My friends and I also shared an assortment of rolls and they were delectable!! I cannot wait to come back to Shang!!!
