great school for designing your own jewelry. Kristin is an amazing entrepreneur and business woman but along side this she is a great teacher. The school is great, Kristin and John (the other instructor in the school) are really helpful on projects, and they are very kind. If you are attending the courses for beginners you will get what you want and design your own jewelry. But if you want to start a new career path you should take comprehensive courses, because in this field a life time may not be enough to master in goldsmith and there is a lot more to learn. The best part of the course is, it is not a hidebound and let you think out of the box, let you fabricate your own pieces while you are designing them.
Jewelry School. The studio is in a great location of New York. There are plenty of places to go get food on lunch break with Broadway and Church street on either side. Small class size allows more individual attention especially on the week days when the classes are less busy. Kristin takes time to get to know the students even with her crazy schedule running her own company. John the main teacher is always there when Kristin has to run and meet clients. You get to design your own personal piece while John and Kristen teach you how to make as you go. This is so much better than every one making the same thing and really allows your personal creativity to grow.
Jewelry School is Cool!.
As an artist it is very important for me to be around people and things that draw inspiration. I always look for genuine emotion and an honesty that only comes with sincere passion for the craft. Kristin Hanson's commitment to being a great jeweler and a nurturing teacher is definitely all there!
The most striking part of my experience in Fine Jewelry School is the creative atmosphere that cultivates incredible ideas that I didn't even know I was capable of. Kristin doesn't hold your hand through the entire process. The best way to learn is through trial and error. Kristin is definitely there to help guide you in the right direction, but if she was to hold your hand you wouldn't be able to challenge yourself to find new ways to solve creative issues. I believe ideas are born and later shaped through self exploration which forces you to see how far you can go and what you can make. Yes, it is the hard way out, but also the most rewarding!
I have made things I was sure could only exist in my dreams. Follow your dreams to Kristin's jewelry school!
Kristin Hanson is awesome. As a client I really enjoy working with Kristin and her work team. Her jewelry is nice and original. Also their high-end parties are a great place to meet new people and build your network. The place to be !!!
Beautiful Jewelry. Kristin Hanson custom-designs beautiful jewelry, including rings, broaches, pendants and necklaces, and bracelets. She creates one of kind, high-class, couture pieces. You should check out the website, www.kristinhanson.us and make a consulting appointment for you custom piece.
A great experience. I started here just because of my love for jewelry. After leaving I felt so educated and was inspired to try to go into the business myself! Kristin and her partner where both so nice, experience, intelligent and understood my every question. The new place in Tribeca was beautiful I looked forward to it everyday. If you have any interest in jewelry you need to try these classes trust me, you won't regret it!
Designing my life. The school is everything I had hoped. I am learning how to not only be a designer but look at everything around me in a new way. I AM MAKING BEAUTIFUL JEWELRY! Every other school provides technique and no complete projects. Nothing to show for your hard work. I am so happy to be learning everyday in the studio and working on a collection to start the business of my dreams. The full time program is so productive and I am already selling my work and learning how to build a clients. I learning how to use all my potential. Kristin and her teachers are a true inspiration.
Jewelry Rewards!. If there is anything I can say about investing in a skill and passion, this school has provided. I have been in Fine Jewelry School for 4 months now, signing up for my second course. I have done extensive research on NYC jewelry schools before signing up. Not only is Kristin's studio a dream space to spend long days working but it is the most inspiring place I have come across other then the Moma. I am thrilled with the skilled teachers, who are patient and happy to assist. The was the best investment I have made in my education and I studied in collages for 7 years. Which it turns out, I should have come here instead.
Let school inspire!.
I am a current student at this school enrolled in a 480 hour course. Being in Miss Hanson's studio has been a wonderful experience in so many ways. I read some of these other reviews and feel very strongly about the quality of education here. Her talents and success seem to created a large following of admirers and some jealous individuals. To be expected. From what I understand Miss Hanson has has hundreds of students in the past few years. If you aren't creating a stir..then you must not be talented. And Kristin is one of the most creative jewelry designers out there.
Not only am I learning so much from the very talented teachers here but I am learning how to be an artist. Kristin is teaching us how to draw, even paint our ideas and how to fabricate our designs in metal. It is an amazing process. All my classmates are so pleased with their experience in the programs. There are students who are in the 2 year program who have changed their lives and careers to study with Kristin.
I have found this school to be a fulfilling and uplifting experience on all levels. The staff is helpful, flexible, patient, and always helping you take your ideas to the next level.
more benchtime than school. I signed up for studying at Kristin's because I thought it was going to be great, there was a flexible time schedule and the space looked nice, and Kristin seemed very genuine. The reality was that although Kristin was around the studio, there was no real organization let alone teaching. The first day she tells you to look through books to find inspiration (I could have done that on my own), and then to sketch something out (what if I didn't know how to draw?)....You are allowed to move at your own pace but that means going in and setting up and asking an assistant for instruction (they will not come to you to see what you are doing unless you ask them for help). And often the one and sometimes two assistants there, are too busy working with other people or on fabricating jewelry for Kristin to really help you. Kristin does like to be in the studio but she is often on the phone or occasionally using her strippers pole she installed in the room next to the studio (for exercise?) which you pass by to use the sink and/or bathroom. There is also very very little instruction on how to use the torch set up, and you often have to wait to use one. In the end Kristin is a successful businesswoman but not a teacher. I know that I am not alone in my experiences, I have since met many others who felt they had wasted a lot of money and time and were much happier when they found a new studio to take classes and actually learn.
