DO NOT GO HERE NO MATTER WHAT!

by IOTA

DO NOT GO HERE NO MATTER WHAT!

If you love your pet, go elsewhere. I have been taking my dog to ABC for 6 years. I take him over every concern big or small and I never miss an annual examination. I was recently in a situation where I needed to board my dog last minute and upon calling ABC and specifically ASKING them if my dog's vaccinations were up to date- they said yes. Then, by examining the documents myself I found out that not only were they not up to date- they were two years PAST DUE. It seems like the vet should have informed me of this at some point in the past two years when I have been in there. It is clear that he never once reviewed my dog's chart to insure that he was up to date on his vaccinations. This is a serious matter as it is possible that my dog has been exposed to various diseases that he should have been vaccinated for. I immediately switched vets and I will never be back.

(FUN FACTS: You will also wait for about an hour for your scheduled appointment. The staff will never mail you a receipt or records and their copy machine doesn't even work so good luck getting a copy of anything.)

Terrible Bedside Manner-- out to make a buck!

by enmen

I brought my 5.5 year old pit bull (who is energetic and noisy, but has never come close to biting anyone--- ever) to ABC Animal Hospital with Dr. Geraldine Dalbard was partnered with Dr. Tufaro. She was easy, well-informed, and peformed his check up and shots without incident.

This year, when it was time for my dog for a check up and his annual bordetella shot, I had to see Dr. Tufaro, as he and Dr. Dalibard severed their relationship and she left the practice.

I was so sorely disappointed-- you would have thought Dr. Tufaro was an A-List celebrity the way he sauntered in to the exam room after keeping us waiting while my dog's anxiety was building (because he, like most animals, isn't crazy about the cramped quarters of a veterinary examination room). Then, after a VERY cursory exam, he requested a heartworm test unneccessarily (I administer Heartgard year-round, so there was no need for the test because he clearly doesn't have heartworm), and concluded the exam. He checked eyes and teeth, but didn't feel his joints or his belly or anything-- both of which are big concerns for big dogs. He also requested a muzzle for my dog because he was fearful he would bite because he was whining, even after I insisted that he has never bitten and would, in fact, become more agitated after a muzzle was introduced. I was right and my dog started convulsing and trying to rip the muzzle off after they put it on him. It sucked royally.

A few weeks later, as I was trying refill my Heartgard prescription, 1-800-PETMEDS called and said that the Doctor REFUSED to give them the OK for a prescription. Even though he had insisted on that stupid test to begin with. Tufaro wanted to me to buy it from him directly at a 40% markup! I said no way and started to try and find Dr. Dalibard! She was the MUCH superior vet and it's a shame she left the practice!

In short, avoid ABC Vet. Most of the technicians and the Dr. have a terrible bedside manner and make you feel like a bad pet owner for having a big dog that is anxious of the vet...

  • Pros: Clean, New Office Space
  • Cons: Bad bedside manner, fears pits/big dogs, tries to milk you
