Do NOT recommend CHEZ LUCIENNE. Although we had made reservations we still had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated. We had our main course and wanted to have dessert. Instead, however, we got the bill and were asked to speed up and pay because our table was needed for the people who were waiting. My God!!! Who ever heard one had to eat in a hurry and pay quickly to make the table available for the next guests. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. THE MANAGER HAD NO RESPECT!!! Do yourself a favor and find a restaurant that has respect for its clients.
Blah Food, Rude Bartender.
First. got there at 8 for my reservation. Had to wait 20 minutes outside at the restaurant's outdoor seating next to a drunk screaming profanity.
Second. No AC. Hot and stuffy but, Ok I'm hoping for good food and drink.
Third. The last straw. I ordered a classic drink which the bartender had no idea how to make. I went to the bartender and explained the drink which he called "old" like who would want that and then he told me, and I quote, "Now get the hell out of here"
I had two birthday guests with no place to go so I stayed.
Food. Blah. I picked the skirt steak. The web site said it was the best. Well, it was tough and flavorless.
Price $200
DON'T GO THERE!!
Today's special: cat pâté with authentic plastic wrapper..
Worst dinning experience ever since my 12 years eating in NYC. The menu was a prix fixe with a foie-gras salad that could be nothing more then cat pâté and an actual piece of the plastic wrapper. Never saw the entrées because we had to leave. There's only so much any self respecting individual can take while being made a fool of. The manager did manage to step out for a cigarette break while our table laid dormant.
The owner didn't seem bothered that our table of five was neglected from the start and during our entire one hour and a half hellish experience there. Even the ginger ale tasted stale. It's a can of soda: how can you f*** that up? What disappoints me the most might be that this is a French restaurant, and being a French citizen this was disgraceful, cowardly and really just tasteless. I can't imagine how you can pretend to charge good money for thrash and think you will get away with it.
I will never step into this restaurant again as long as I live. And to the owner/cretin: go back to France and learn how to run a business you make the rest of the hardworking expats here look like idiots.
Don't order the seafood.
I ate dinner there on 1/29/10. I had the shrimp over linguini. I went home and got very, very sick.
I had nothing else to eat since breakfast and only had water with the shrimp.
Don't order the seafood. It's not worth getting that sick over.
Highly Recommended.... This restaurant opened not too long ago and is really a great change from all the greasy, fried, and bbq food around. It is reasonably priced and the waitstaff is great. The ambience is relaxing.
A rising Star in Harlem. Pleasantly surprise by the quality of this earthy French Cuisine in an "Retro Guinguette" French Bistro - Interesting decor in this old pizzeria where they kept a few items - The Bar tender knows is stuff for sure, great cocktails - You must try the wonderful Foie Gras, The Tunar tartar, The "Coq au vin" with fresh pasta (excellent), and the "Daude be Boeuf" - very good & affordable wine card - Great service - Good atmosphere...A must Try...
Great staff...excellent night out!. The place is relatively new but all the positive reviews are right on point. The staff is very friendly and extremely attentive.
Editorial Review. A pair of Daniel alums collaborate for an ambitious French bistro in an historical section of Harlem.
