What Our Expert Scouts Say

I like this restaurant so much that there my praise is plastered in big letters across its facade, in the manner of theater blurbs. And why? Because the hamburgers are exactly the way I like them: juicy, brown, salty, crusty, and served on unadorned white squishy buns. The shakes rock as well.

God Awful Service. One of the worst service experiences I've had in a long time. We were seated (after being told there were no tables) by pointing out available tables in the half full restaurant to the less than helpful host. We waited a bit then finally had to ask for menus.

A server eventually appeared and we ordered. Our server vanished and was finally spotted half an hour later and we asked if he could check on our order (we were on our hour lunch break). We were told it was coming out now and then he vanished, again. Our order didn't show up and 10min later, we told the hostess we needed it wrapped up as we now had to be back to work.

Then the food arrived, on plates. We told the busboy we needed it to go. Then our server reappeared, we told him the same thing, he blamed the delay on a party of thirty that arrived at least 10min AFTER we had ordered. We finally got our order and the bill. They didn't even make a pacifying gesture such as taking the drinks off the bill. Nor did the debacle even rate the visit and apology of a manager, I wonder if that's because such things are not out of the ordinary there.

The food was alright but they only managed to get two of our five orders correct. It probably would have been tastier if I didn't have to inhale it at my desk as I was trying to prepare for a live show.

Too bad for HB Burger, we work in Times Square and would have frequented the restaurant not only for lunch but after work for drinks. However, I am not inclined to spend money there anytime soon. But I am inclined to deter everyone I work with going there. Hopefully, I have saved you from making the same mistake I did.

Great value for Manhattan!. After a long day walking around the city with friends and kids, we were starving. Trying to find an inexpensive kid friendly menu was easier than I thought, so to HB Burger we went. I was a bit nervous, because I'm not a meat eater, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a variety of non red meat burgers on the menu, and I could not believe the prices, so inexpensive.

I had the tuna burger, and tried some of my friends crab cake burger, DELICOUS! The fries were yummy, as well as the buffalo wings. They even have a bunch of homemade sodas and egg creams. The kids had the mini burgers, which they loved. I would definitely go back.

It's about the temperature, stupid. I'm a burger gal. Been to all of 'em in NYC. If a place is toutin' burgers, they better get it right. Was excited to try HB Burger before a show next door at Town Hall. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how soft the bun is or the variety of toppings (one point for having jalepeno jack cheese) or that they have cool flavors for shakes (mint choc chip)...if you can't get the temperature of the burgers correct, why bother? I ordered medium rare. Friend ordered medium. Both came out well done. And I mean WELL done. Tasteless and dry. No pink in sight. Not enough time to get us new ones before the show (we had to flag the waitress down to tell her, she didn't check on us after the food was served), so we ate undersalted fries for dinner. They did take the cost of both burgers off the bill and the manager's apology was gracious (why they also brought us burgers to go knowing we were going to a show right after isn't clear - we declined).

Great Burgers. I went to HB and had a bison burger which was very good and juicy, and reasonably priced. But they should be ashamed of themselves to charge 7 bucks for a beer, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Best burgers in theater district.. The owners of the Heartland Brewery chain saw the burger gold rush happening around them, and transformed Spanky’s BBQ into HB Burger. Like all the Heartland Breweries, the result is a big and comfortable space with large portions of well-executed food and an extensive beer menu. What is surprising is how good the burgers are: griddled to order, served on toasted potato buns, and made of beef ground each night by burger butcher to the stars Pat LaFrieda.

If You Have 2 Hours A Good Deal. This is great place to go to if you have a couple of hours to waste. This is the third time I have been ther for lunch and the service has gotten worse each time. When you see multiple tables complaining and leaving because they have been sitting for an hour and have not been served yet there is a problem. The only good that came out of my experiance was our food was on the house. So if you have a limited time for lunch find some other burger place.

Awsome Burgers & Great Beer. We stumbled upon HB Burger while walking through the Times Square area. We wanted a quick bite at a good price and HB Burger seemed to fit the bill. Well, we weren't disappointed: DELICIOUS BURGERS with some great Heartland Brewery beers on draft. What a combo! I don't find myself in midtown often but I'd definitely make a trip back to HB Burger again.
