Beautiful Cupcakes.
I have to give it to their heart and art to decorate such lovely cupcakes. They don't have many flavors. They are mostly vanilla or chocolate cake with chocolate, vanilla, maple and mocha frostings.
The service was friendly and the cafe was kind of old but welcoming. I personally think the cupcakes are decent; they are not the best in the city though. The cake isn't too sweet and is not as moist as I like it to be. The frosting is alright; I think the flavor could be stronger.
But in the dessert desert of Hell's Kitchen, it is all we have got!
Fabulous Cupcakes, coffee, etc.!!.
I am a self proclaimed cupcake connoisseur, and food 'snob.' There are a million sickly-sweet bakeries out there, Crumbs definitely being one of them. If Crumbs is your favorite cupcake, I doubt you'll have the developed taste buds to enjoy a cupcake cafe cupcake. However, I will admit that there have been one or two times where my baked goods were a little on the dry side- probably not fresh that day. And if you get a cupcake that they keep refrigerated, do yourself a favor and wait til it gets room temperature to eat it. The butter cream frosting is the best butter cram I've ever eaten, and once it and the cake are room temperature, oh my god, you are in buttercream cupcake heaven.
The owner has quite a colorful personality, but I have to say, his pessimism puts me off a little. Its almost as if he's thrown in the towel and given up. Boo.
best cakes in town. I have had my birthday cakes from here since I was growing up, and even after 20 years and all the new spots around town, no one could ever come close to the beautiful cakes that the cupcake cafe makes. Thank you guys for all the beautiful birthday memories and I hope there will be many more to come!! p.s. I love the chocolate cake with mocha buttercream - so delish!
best coffee and cupcakes.
This is the nicest coffee shop in midtown to get away from it all and read the times or meet a friend.
Excellent espresso drinks and the doughnuts are divine! Beautiful cupcakes and cakes too. They definitely get my business every time there's a birthday. y-u-m
Yuck!.
We loved this place and ordered cupcakes from here every month (sometimes 2x/mo) for our company parties. We wanted to have an actual little get together at the cafe for a colleague and the owner was so obnoxious, we've decided not to do business with them anymore. I don't know if it's the economy or what, but seems to me that owners/proprietors of establishments should be super nice to customers - especially good ones - if they want to survive.
I will tell everyone not to go here from now on.
Great date spot. I went to casa a few weeks ago on a date and really enjoyed it. It had a cool atmosphere, very cozy. The wait to get coffee was a little long because there was just 1 guy at the counter. It was well worth it though as the cappuccino was excellent (note: there's no menu because they don't do specialty drinks- it's coffee, cappuccino, espresso, or tea). I also had a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting which was delicious. I got the small size and wished I had gotten the larger one. Next time!
Editorial Review. The former Cupcake Cafe has a new name, a new space a few blocks up--but the same old sinfully good sweet treats.
