Absolutely Aweful. DO NOT GO HERE!

I have never in my life written a negative review for anyone or anything, this is my first and this shows you how strongly I feel about this place. They are completely unprofessional. Let me just say that I am not the type of person who is overly sensitive, in fact I try to find the best in everything but this place just plain sucks! I made an appointment for Saturday at 145, they call me on saturday morning to tell me that I am late, because they incorrectly signed me up for 11am, then they ask if I can come in at 1pm instead and I said I would try, as I had made plans to be there at 145 and I live all the way uptown, I rush all the way downtown and manage to get there at 115, when I am informed that I will no longer be seen because I am late. At this point I think there is a misunderstanding and I explain to them the situation and they proceed to blame ME for the mix-up. This was absolutely ridiculous. Both of the people I dealt with were completely rude and unprofessional. They made no apologies for their mistake and instead yelled at me as if I had messed up. Please do not go to this place as I am afraid you will regret it as I did. Especially when there are so many other better places to go to.

No one deserves to be treated so poorly and it was embarrassing the way they yelled at me in front of the other customers. I hate public arguments and I try to be professional at all times but these people really made it difficult. So unless you enjoy being talked down to, I suggest a different local.

BTW I only give it a star because you have to give it something or you can't post. I would give it nothing.

Poor Customer Service. After having been recommended by friends to Ipanema, I started getting my waxes here last year... although the actual wax service is quick and well done by Daniela, the customer service she delivers is far from friendly.

Having worked at an upscale salon on Madison Avenue for a number of years, I learned the value in treating clients with the utmost respect and delivering quality customer service... a lesson which is lacking for Daniela. She used direct references to my irregular visits (4-5 times last year) as a manner of justifying her snarky attitude and condescending demeanor towards me for having arrived 7 minutes late to my appointment (and we can thank the MTA for that). She raised her voice and made offensive comments when I refused to see another aesthetician because she had not been recommended to me.

Although I can openly admit that she delivers a good brazilian wax, I will refuse to receive services from a business that treats it's clients in this way. While I understand that working with people can be frustrating and difficult at times, an employee should never be offensive and condescending... especially not in front of other clients.

Although a few of my friends have been going to Ipanema and I recently recommended the wax service to my sister, this recent incident coupled with a few minor customer related matters have forced me never to return here again... my friends are on the bandwagon as well.

Moral of the story: If you do not mind the inconsistent customer service and just want a good wax, tread at your own risk!

BEST BRAZILIAN IN NYC!. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm always on the search for a place that can combine superior services at a reasonable price. Well, my search for the best brazilian is finally over. I'm not sure if it was the wax or the technique or both. Perhaps the very friendly welcome set a positive chain of events, lol, who knows... what I do know is that I, who have frequented the "most expensive", "run of the mill" "hole in the wall"places and never that impressed, have been enlightened by the best brazilian ever.

Absolutely Amazing. I have never and I stress never written any reviews and have given any type of feedback but I guess there is always a first. This place is definitely a hidden gem. I read the reviews on this site and decided to make an appt and go. The girl who anwsered the phone was super nice and accomodated me in making an appt the same day! Very hard to find a place that can do this in the city. Not to get to personal but I got a Brazillian and OMG - it was the fastest and painless one I have ever gotten. I did not flinch in fact I was so comfortable it suprised even me. The music put me in a trance where I just wanted to sleep but before I knew it the girl was done and I was on my way back to work in less than 10 minutes. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. Strongly recommend.

Excellent Brazilian Wax. I went to see Daniella today for a brazilian wax after reading the reviews on citysearch. She's really very skilled- quick (10 minutes tops), professional, she knows what she's doing and she gets the job done. It was the best brazilian I have had and it's truly the least painful a brazilian can ever be!

First time Brazilian. I am about to go on a beach vacation and I just bought a white bikini...so I thought a Brazilian was in order...it was not only my first time getting a Brazilian, it was my first time EVER getting waxed. Holy cow. It was actually great! I was terrified at first, but Fernanda was v. patient and did a wonderful job. They don't use paper, but a special wax they import from Brazil. I'm never going anywhere else!

Best Brazilian waxes in the city. Absolutely incredible Brazilian waxes. Hair is off in about 1 minute and painless! Clean, bright space; excellent service. Highly recommend Daniella, but the other women are great too.

I recommend Ipanema to everyone who'll listen!. This is - without a doubt - the most painless waxing experience I have ever had. I've been to various places around the city and nothing compares. Not only is Daniella fantastic and the spa spotless, the price is right, too! I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Least Painful Brazilian Wax. I went today to see Daniella and it was truly the least painful bikini wax I've ever had. I was in and out within 5 minutes too. Definitely makes a difference when they don't use cloth strips.

The BEST brazilian wax ever!!!!!!. This Spa is the best. I get my monthly brazilian wax here. I will never go anywhere else. EXCELLENT customer service!

They are also open until 8pm during the week...this is perfect for me because I work until 6pm.

Love it!

Daniella you are the BEST! :)
