AH-Mazing! Best on UWS

by traceydawn

I moved to the neighborhood almost 3 years ago and stumbled upon Polished. It really is the best mani-pedi on the UWS. The salon is always clean and quiet, plus they play old movies to watch while you sit in the amazing pedicure chairs.

Susan gives the best Shellac mani and pedis. I started them leading up to my wedding. And for my wedding the mani lasted through my honeymoon - the pedicure is still going strong more than 3 weeks later!

For a regular mani-pedi - I always ask for Jenny - she gives great massages.

If you are in the neighborhood and looking for a great place - stop in. You won't regret it!

BEWARE!!!

by Drj213

I had purchased a gift certificate from a very reputable online site for a minx

manicure from polished beauty bar. excite at the opportunity to finally try the popular manicure I purchased two, one for myself and one for my sister. However, due to my busy resident schedule my time was limited as to when I could get an appointment. by the time my schedule freed up, the certificates had expired by a couple of days. I called the salon to see if something could be worked out, honor the certificates or even put the amount towards the full price of the service. I was rudely told that the certificates had expired, which I knew and they were invalid. Even when I asked to speak to a manager, I was refused and told she said they were expired and could not be used any more. What type of business in today's economy is so set to turn away clients?!? very rude and unfriendly customer service. They are obviously in the business of just taking money from clients without any service what so ever. I will never go there, no matter how "clean" the facility might be, their staff and customer service is outright dirty.

Pros: none

Cons: self explanatory

Cleanest Nail Salon on the UWS!

by ayhe

I used to be amazed that given the amount of nail salons on the Upper West Side how difficult it was to find one that did a decent job.

Polished is the exception to this rule.

I have been coming here for quite some time and have never had a bad experience

The first thing you notice when you walk through the door is how immaculate the place is. The chairs, the basins, the air, the tables, everything! Also, I love that movies are playing on the wall with subtitles. This past month I've gotten to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's and Roman holiday. You practically had to drag me out of there. I hadn't even realized how long I sat there while my nails were drying.

The staff is attentive, talented and absolutely lovely. I'm not sure who the previous posters were dealing with, but I've never had any issues with anyone on the phone or in person. In my experience everyone has been extremely polite, even when I was using a gift certificate.

They have a wonderful special during the week. One free manicure when you buy a pedicure. The pedicure, which is about $35 is meticulously done and looks fresh and new even 2 weeks later. The manicure is clean, even and also looks just as fresh a week later.

Next time you are on the UWS stop by Polished. You will not be disappointed. You'll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner!

Don't You Dare Use a Gift Certificate

by janet nyc

A friend recently gave me a $25 gift certificate to this place. I've never been, but live in the area. I called to find out how much a mani/pedi would be; I was wanting to come in tonight. I was informed by the snotty girl on the phone that Mon-Thurs it was $35. I said, "Ok, well I will come in tonight. I've never been and a recently received a gift certificate." She then replied that my certificate does not apply to that price and I would have to pay the full price. I asked how much was full price...$45. I asked her why I couldn't use the certificate and she said that the $35 Mon-Thurs price had to be paid in cash or credit card. I told her that the certificate was paid for with cash or credit card, so why did it matter. She basically said tough sh*t.

Very rude. Not accommodating. Not a good first impression for a potential customer. Will only go and spend the exact amount ($12 for a mani & $13 for a 10 min massage).

great manicure & spa pedicure

by parauniverse711

Polished Beauty Bar is my favorite Upper West Side nail salon! They also offer massage and facials, but I usually just go for my weekly manicure and pedicure! They do an excellent job and really take their time with you. The pedicure massage chairs are wonderful and I always look forward to relaxing there when Im getting my nails done. You should definitely stop by here if you want a reasonably priced, beautiful nail treatment!

  • Pros: beautiful nails
