I like a good meal as do most and I'm critical with food. I feel in today's world if I'm spending over $100 for two it should be memorable and really good. Let's start with the grade pending and the smell of the restaurant which was old and musty. The wait staff was nice enough. The house wine was AWFUL....we had the merlot and cabernet. With such good wines out there these days at $10 a bottle or less this should not be the case in an upscale Italian restaurant unless someone just doesn't care. The caesar salad was watery, had no paremsan cheese and store bought croutons. A package of Dole Caesar kit would have served us better. The fried calamari had not ONE ounce of seasoning on it and the red dipping sauce was watery and bitter. The waiter couldn't rave enough about the shrimp fra diavolo special over linguine. He sold me I had to have it. The shrimp were overcooked with not one ounce of coating or seasoning on them over a bed of linguine in that same bitter watery tomotoe sauce with not one ounce of spice. Is that Fra Diavolo sauce really? The chef obviously isn't tasting his food and the manager doesn't give a damn because he isn't either. Save your $$$ there are a lot of good Italian restaurants in this city where you could leave satisfied.
Classy fine Italian

I went through all the trouble of registering because I loved loved loved the dinner my family had! Not too many places left that actually make pasta like Parma! The portions are huge but delicious like nothing you've had! Try the osso bucco and Parma will become your favorite. Thanks Parma for the great service and diner!

My wife and I dined at Parma several times when we were living in NYC in the late 80s and early 90s. The food and service were always excellent. So when we found ourselves back in NYC unexpectedly the other nite, it was a natural choice to go back. What a mistake that was! The service was indeed excellent but the food left both of us sick to our stomachs. The arugula salad we both had as starters was passable but the arugula was the same thing you can expect to get from one of those pre-washed packages at the grocery store and the shaved parmesan cheese was bland. My wife's fetuccine al vongole was made with either old or canned clams. Indeed the waiter first brought out a bowl for my wife to use for the clam shells when her dish arrived. When the dish arrived with the clams already shelled, the bowl was removed. She found her entree inedible. I ordered spaghetti bolognese. Also inedible and left me feeling sick to my stomach for two hours afterwards. To add insult to injury, they charged us $13 for a Campari and soda and $9 for a bottle of Pelligrino, which goes for 2 bucks at any retail store. It is also worth noting that at 50 and 42, my wife and I were the youngest diners in the restaurant by 15 years. Will never go back.

We walked by this old world looking restaurant and decided to give it a try.The menu was very simple, traditional pizzeria style food, nothing fancy or to write home about. The waiters are all running around like they were being chased by a lion. The bartender must of had fleas because he was scratching all night while we were there. We ate chicken scarparra, the chunks of chicken was cooked good but the sauce lacked flavor. The side of string beans was raw.The bread was very good. When we got the check,we started scratching our heads wondering how they could charge so much money for simple food that other restaurants charge half the price.
- Pros: very good bread
- Cons: over priced for simple food
Way overpriced and gruff service
