nice ambiance, terrible staff.
Thursday night / Friday morn. 05/19/11
I was looking for a venue to hold my birthday party and aome in one night and had a good time with the help of Sammy who explained the different packages they offer.
I came late one night and was treated poorly by the bartender. She took my money for songs and a drink (around $11), left a $2 tip, and she proceeded to skip my songs in order to sing her own.
I guess I won't hold my birthday there.…
Citysearch Editorial Profile. With it's vintage radio station feel, this hip Midtown spot makes you want to sing your heart out to some old-school tunes. Choose from one of 9 private rooms to accommodate your party size, and check out the menu of traditional bar-style eats.…
Ugly treatment from staff.
Used to really, really like this place...
Then, the last time I went there with friends, they were getting ready to close up shop at 4 AM, and the bouncer (an aggressive, rude black guy) started to not only brush us out, but actually became violent with our group, even the girls. No one in our party was drunk or even arguing with him, we just wanted to finish the last song (there was about 30 seconds left). The guy was literally screaming profanities, getting in our faces, threatening violence for no reasons that we could discern.
The staff was present for this (two guys named Sonny and Henry) and they tried to diffuse the situation (namely, restrain their violent employee) and offered us free drinks if we came back the next day.
It's disappointing to not want to come back to a place you enjoy, but I'm not about take friends to a place where that kind of thing happens. I fully support the presence of security people, and their need to be firm with the drunk and obnoxious, but at most places, security tries to avoid conflict and keep things calm. Apparently at Radio Star, it's necessary for a 250-lb black dude to threaten violence to quiet girls.
Ugliest thing I've ever seen at a bar in New York.…
Great Place to Celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!.
I was very indecisive in planning for my birthday. I called and spoke with a man (didn't get his name). I told my story (dilema) and he was very accomodating & reassuring!!! My friends arrived before
