What Our Expert Scouts Say

If you love the "three Ps" of Roman cooking -- pork, pecorino, and pepper -- you will love Maialino, which is uniquely dedicated to that flavor profile. Danny Meyer's Italian restaurant has the usual flawless service and a big, sunny room at Breakfast with its own wonderful menu.

Tips for Maialino

Oh Meyer!. Danny Meyer has done it again. Went here for lunch and was bowled over by the food, decor and staff. From the moment we entered there were no fewer than 4 employees taking our coats, checking us in, greeting us and seating us. As we walked through the gorgeous space, we were floored by the meat and bread station right smack in the middle of the restaurant. We started with the sardines and fried artichokes which were both fresh and flavorful. Next we split a bunch of pastas- the spaghetti and ricotta ravioli were sublime. The manager came over and checked on us and over all the service was impeccable. Truly a great dining experience.

The only thing missing was a key to Gramercy Park!

Citysearch Editorial Review. Maialino is yet another high-profile venture from Danny Meyer, the man whose many eateries include the high-end (Eleven Madison Park) and low-end (Shake Shack) alike. This project speaks Italian--a trattoria situated just off Gramercy Park that stands in blushing Old World contrast to its host, Ian Schrager’s sleek Gramercy Park Hotel. The modest decor includes a bar-area chalkboard listing specials, open-air bread and charcuterie stations and framed prints scattered hither and yon around the restaurant. Eats include reasonably priced pastas galore, plenty of salumi and formaggio and meaty entrees like a hulking lamb chop, plus a variety of vinos in the $30 dollar range.
