Very pathetic. I flagged him down and when I told him, he made a smart aleck joke about "If you only knew that fish, you wouldnt be disappointed", he then chuckled and left the table. I thought he would come back with another piece of fish, food or something. 20 minutes later I get the bill and I was charged for the Bacalao

I thought it was so unprofessional and I will never go there or recommend it

Citysearch Editorial Review. Tapas joints in Manhattan are notoriously cramped--not so at this spacious and sleek Upper East Side eatery, opened by the brothers behind Astoria’s El Boqueron. Brick walls, unique dangling light fixtures and wine barrels create an intimate atmosphere where authentic tapas like creamy cod croquettes and tender veal meatballs are served. The name “El Porron” refers to a distinctively-shaped, shareable glass pitcher, so its understandable that vino is a big draw--a variety of Iberian selections are available for under $13, though most are served in a traditional glass.

Tasty tapas. Tried out El Porron on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised since this much deserving spot hasn't received more buzz. We ordered a cheap pitcher of sparkling sangria (beyond delish) at the bar while we waited for our table. There was a nice crowd for a Friday night-few large parties and couples in the dining room, some singles at the bar-so a good mix all around. We were seated shortly thereafter and split a bunch of tapas including the chorizo which was unbelievably flavorful. We were able to order their specials in tapas size which was a huge plus. For desert we split a lava cake and were expecting more of a molten but not so much. Thankfully my sweet tooth was still feasting on the sangria. Brightens up that block and worth checking out!

tapas is a fun way to eat. My family and I had never tried Spanish tapas and were impressed by the sophistication of it all. (we thought it would be like just appetizers) but it was a collective of flavors, varied meats and seafoods all prepared to be shared. Turns out we loved this style of eating as we were able to try lots and lots of dishes! One better than the next. Good sangria and a charming bartender who clearly loves the food as she was able to make some good recommendations. Definately have dessert. Love the decor and the family "ish" vibe of this place. We will frequent it and have a feeling many more people will do the same. Welcome to the neighborhood.
