Excellent Food, Great Service. We live in the neighborhood and have dined at Spina already many times, it is a definite favorite. The food is outstanding, they offer many different and interesting pastas as well as meat, chicken and fish. Had the Veal Saltimbocca on Sunday, and it was outstanding. Been here with many friends, and everyone always enjoys it. The restaurant is casual and comfortable, the staff all friendly and knowledgeable. This is a must go restaurant, and don't miss the Tiramisu for dessert, which is one of the best in the city.
Small East Village Italian specializing in handmade pasta.. The latest restaurant to occupy this doomed Alphabet City space, Spina prides itself on its large menu of hand-formed pastas, served in a rustic Italian setting. The vibe is cozy, with the usual East Village beams, a wine bar and even a lady rolling out pasta in the middle of the dining room for everyone to see. The wine list has a number of regional reds you don't often see, most of which are reasonably priced. The food is a little rough-hewn, with thicker pastas and coarser ingredients than some New Yorkers may be used to, but Spina is, for better or worse, a lot like the average, solid enoteca in central Italy.
