Delicioso Margaritas and a happening vibe.
Walking into the rustic and candle lit Los Feliz you feel its authenticity. One glance at the menu and the extensive list of tequilas you know it. My tequila loving friend had a superb margarita. I had a glass of decent Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand coincidently that same town the bartender is from. The menu is perfect for sharing we had Chile Relleno Tacos (good, gooey, but a touch salty), Flautas De Pollo en Mole (excellent chocolaty mole sauce), Chorizo Quesadillas (creamy and spicy but again a little salty) and the beef cheek tacos (tender and satisfying).
Chef Julia Ballesteros, rumored to be appearing on Iron Chef later this year, offers authentic Mexican dishes with a flair that reflects her French training.

Tacos, tequila and secret nooks at this luxe L.E.S. cantina..
This Lower East Side looker is perhaps the city’s prettiest Mexican cantina, a bustling spot brimming with pleasure-seeking downtowners on all three floors. The basement is a maze of hideaways: One room is a rustic stunner, styled with cobblestone floors, graffiti-kissed walls and vaulted brick ceilings. Another bordello-like space is lined with plush banquettes, providing the perfect make-out perch. For the less amorous, the ground floor (tin ceiling, black-and-white flooring) is grand for sipping smoky mezcal or pounding a margarita made with house-infused jalapeño tequila.
