“This is a great spot to hit for drinks and apps at the bar or a lovely sit down dinner.”
Upscale, original, and inventive, Jo's has never quite gotten the credit it deserves, and I've often wondered why. It's on a lovely block and has a great bar. Go figure.
terrible for parties! they charge your amex at random.... Went there for a friend's birthday party this past weekend - NEVER AGAIN!! service was horrible, they overcharged everyone, and the food was mediocre at best. the worst part about it was that they took the birthday girl's credit card for a deposit, everyone paid their bill, and a few days later they OVERCHARGED THE BDAY GIRL BY $300, which she is now having to dispute with her credit card company !! they had a few different ways to justify this charge, which seems fishy to me, especially since they assured everyone at the party the bill was covered before we all left. Beyond that, everyone paid $100 flat which was supposed to include food, open bar, and tip but the waiters would not take drink orders (there were 2 for 25 people) and we were forced to go to the bar and pay for our drinks ON TOP of the all-you-can drink fee. Lame. If I was going to pay $100/plate i would certainly not go to jo's. Service was rude beyond all of this - they wouldn't adjust the air conditioning or turn up the music in their party room when asked, wait staff would barely come back to our room, and the waiters just looked and acted miserable. All of this is surprising when your group's bill is $2500+ . Very disappointing. Will never go to this place again. Not fun.
nice atmosphere, great food, excellent quality-to-price. I think that the people behind Jo's have figured out a sweet spot in terms of great food at a decent price. I've been twice before posting a review--new to Citysearch, and loved the crispy ribs (how did they do it) and roast chicken. No big surprises menu-wise, but dependably delicious. There's a little something for every taste on the menu, drinks were reasonably priced and well-executed, good wines by the glass. All-around, an easy go-to restaurant that's a good value.
Meat in a cup!!!!!.
I have been to Jo's several times and have to say it always wonderful. Great drinks and a Happy Hour that can not be beaten. 1$ Oysters and awesome unique tap beers.
This is a great spot to hit for drinks and apps at the bar or a lovely sit down dinner. I have done both and loved them equally.
Oh yeah, they have a starter called Meat in a Cup that is out of this world!!!!!!!!!!!!
Citysearch Editorial Review. Whether you want to meet a friend for a drink, grab a relatively quick bite or sit down for an elongated meal, there's a place for you at Jo's. The front bar area, marked by a long marble counter top and tiled floors, caters to well-dressed guests sipping after-work cocktails. Off to the right, where hardwood flooring outlines a lounge-like space, other patrons sit atop black leather ottomans while nibbling on plates of crispy pork ribs and fried calamari. In the back room, exposed brick walls, an ornate mirror and an antler chandelier set a quieter tone conducive to dining on entrees like pork shank and grilled trout.
