Locally sourced deliciousness. I was a bit suspicious when I stepped in but I have to say I am surprised by the food and drinks. I tried the Red Lemonade and Sweet Tea drinks and they were sweet and refreshing.

The food they served was delicious as well. I tried almost everything on the menu. The burger was juicy, the fried pickle is sough and spicy but flavorful, the grilled cheese sandwich was slightly crispy outside and so cheesy inside; the Irish Sausage roll didn't show up till the end of the party but was buttery and delicious!

This is definitely a great hangout for neighborhood residents. Support the locals!

Citysearch Editorial Review. Yes, it has locally sourced eats and brews, a hip vintage look and indie rock tunes on the stereo, but no, it’s not in Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan. Sweet Afton is in Astoria, and if the huge crowds are any indication, its weathered aesthetic (heavy on the exposed brick and reclaimed wood) is working just fine. The bar shares the same emphasis on gourmet pub grub as its sister establishment Wilfie & Nell in the West Village, with a menu including fried pickles sourced from Brooklyn’s McClure’s Pickles and a burger with beef from celeb meat purveyor Pat LaFrieda.
