New York's love for authentic Italian pizza has generally been limited to the floppy pies of Naples, but the crisp Roman-style pies are represented to good effect by this pizzeria and gelato shop in the shadow of Grand Central Station. As in Rome, the pies are long rectangular affairs, laid out to the customer and then cut by the inch to order. They're crispier than their southern cousins, but generally a lot less fresh, although after a re-heat you probably won't mind much. The gelato is pretty good too, and is the perfect way to follow a foot or so of crispy pizza.
