Great Dive Bar! – The lott is the best dive bar, NYC has to offer. Like the reviewer below me I also planned my a party at the Lott through AccessGotham. com and had a terrific experience doing so.
We had a three hour open bar for $40, which is quite reasonable. Upon arrival the doorman had our party info and we walked right in. The bartenders made good strong mixed drinks, and we thanked them by tipping well.
They played a nice mix of current and 80's/90's music. There was plenty of room for my guy friends to sit down and for me and my girls to dance. Thanks for a great night!
Great for Open Bar! – This place sure reminds me of going out to a college bar. This place can certainly get nutty and isn't for everyone but if your looking for that college throwback spend a night at the Lott.
I booked my birthday party here a while back through AccessGotham and they got me a three hr open bar for $40. My friends and I had a blast and everyone was so friendly. The doorman walked our group in and get us all settled.
The music was terrific and so many classics were played. I'm thinking NYE at the Lott??
Terrible service, rude hosts – After booking VIP with friends we never even ended up going inside as they wouldn't let us. At the door we heard excuses like your party is already fulfilled (FALSE) and then we are at capacity. Yea well that why a reservation is in place to reserve a spot inside.
Ended up leaving, it wasn't worth the hassle
3rd Time's A Charm – The Lott has to be one of the most fun places in this city. Yes, they've changed the name 3 times but I think each time the revamp is better. They've just renovated the space with nicer decor, better drink specials and the kitchen has now reopened finally serving the classic bar food we all love while getting completely wasted by their amazing fishbowls! The bartenders are friendly, the music is great and noone is afraid to get up on the bar! My friends and I booked several bracelet parties with them and the more people we bring they always offer us new deals or a free happy hour. If you're looking to have a wild night out without spending your entire paycheck then this is the place to be. I'll be there again this weekend!
Don't get VIP!!!! Awful service! – We booked a VIP table at this place on Saturday 10/30 (Halloween weekend) a week in advance. We signed a contract and put down our credit card for a VIP table for 10 ppl, $650. The VIP was supposed to be good from 9pm through 4am. It came with bottle service, etc. My friends and I arrived at this establishment at midnight, expecting to be escorted to our table. There was a huge crowd around the door, from both sides. The bouncer told us that there were no more VIP tables available and in a loud rude tone told us to move along to the side. Now, imagine 10 people arriving to a party that they reserved be only be told to take a hike. This is completely unprofessional! After A LOT of pleading with the bouncer, someone came out that was aware of our reservation. We were finally let inside, after a half hour of waiting in the cold. The bouncer led us to the VIP area which was comprised of 2 small tables and overcrowded by around 30 people. There wasn't room to stand, let along sit down. They didn't give us the bottles that were included in the price either. It was complete disarray. We ended up leaving and going to a near-by bar. Never again.
They don't honor VIP – Went there for the Halloween Party. Called several days ahead and reserved a VIP table for 10 ppl, including bottle service - 2 bottles + beer. We agreed on price, and they took our card number to secure the reservation. They said we'll have the VIP tables until 4AM.
We knew it was going to be crowded for Halloween which is why we decided to spring for VIP - to avoid the lines and have a table/drinks to ourselves.
The place was a huge disappointment. First the bouncers refused to let us in, even though we're on the VIP list, saying they are over capacity. After 30 mins they let us in, and lead us to their "VIP" area. The place is a joke. There were no VIP tables available, just an area which was just as crowded as the rest of the place. All tables were taken, people STANDING on the seats trying to get some breathing room, and our reservations completely ignored.
They are letting everyone in, and not holding the VIP tables, even though they are reserved with a credit card. They simply do not honor VIP. We spoke to them and tried to ensure they will not charge the card - since no table or bottle service was available for us - and then cut our losses and went elsewhere.
Good for open bars, but don't stay after – I went with a couple friends after winning an open bar on Saturday. The open bar was supposed to be from 10-11, but we spent the first 20 minutes waiting in line. This place is weird since it's changed so many times. You can still see parts of Porky's.
The drinks we good, pretty standard and a good strength. The crowd is pretty post-college-but-still-feels-like-college and the music was good.
We went back to the bar at 10:58 for a last drink. The bartender made them and then was like "It's $17." - for 2 drinks and a soda! We're asked about the open bar and she said it already ended, "we rang the bell and everything." I was standing right near the bar and I never heard a bell. She said she would take the drinks back if we didn't want them. What a waste.
I'd recommend this place for the open bar, but then head out and find another place.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Formerly Porky’s--a rowdy bar named after the ‘80s teen flick--this Flatiron-area spot has grown up and matured into The Yard. The new theme is meant to stimulate memories of backyard barbecues from your childhood. But if you miss the rambunctious atmosphere of the old Porky’s, don’t worry: You’ll still feel like you need a scrub with steel wool by last call. Billed as the “birthday, bachelorette and bachelor party headquarters,” it’s not uncommon to find fist-pumping dudes buying rounds of cheap drinks for cliques of tipsy tiara-wearing women looking to have a good time. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with that.
NEVER WILL GO BACK AGAIN – We went to this place for my 25th birthday. I thought it would be fun for all my friends and people could dress up if they wanted to or didnt have to if they didnt want to. I resereved 3 tables and they offered to comp a bottle for doing so for my bday (awesome). They called to confirm the day before and we confirmed. My boyfriend called the next afternoon to re-confirm and request corner tables and they said no problem. We got there at 11pm and they had one table by the garbage can and gave away the other tables. 11 pm is not late for a saturday night in NYC! COME ON! I had all my friends standing around waiting for the to set up even just the one table and bring the bottles-it took 1/2 an hour to do so than the manager wouldnt come talk to us for almost 2 hours. I spent my birthday arguing trying to get my tables and bottles I reserved to make my guests feel comfortable. This place completely ruined my birthday night~! They even forgot to give my boyfriend his cc and license back at the end of the night with the check!
...and I normally go out of my way to write good reviews on a place... not this time!
