well – I did enjoy my night out over there; music was fine, the service and drinks were not bad at all. Really nice atmosphere. We were a bit skeptical regarding the door policy though..the first time we went there the line was huge, it took us almost an hour to get into the club. The second time we were 9people and we booked a Limo night out package for like $160 , for 1h limo tour and admission in the club skipping the line (limotournyc) that was a pretty good deal! Anyway I’ll definitely go back there!
A MAJOR DON'T! – DON'T GO UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE INSULTED! I came here with a group of friends (10 people) on Friday night to celebrate a birthday. First the people at the door asked us what we were there for. We said lounge. They told us that the only way to get in without a reservation is to buy a table. We agreed and they told us to wait. Then this super rude guy (maybe the manager) comes out, looks at us and literally yells at us saying that we couldn't go in without a reservation "because this is an upper-class bar unlike any other bar where we can just walk in!". How dare he?! He said other really rude things and basically assumed we couldn't afford a table! What's the irony? My 2 other friends who were Bulgarian had been there for 10 minutes already at the bar! The rest of us waiting to go in were from Nepal. (I guess skin color matters to go in!) Then my 2 other friends come out to see what was going on and the jerk manager orders the bouncer to close the door and don't let them back in.
We ended up going to another nicer, welcoming bar where we didn't get treated like animals!
RUDE AND DISGUSTING ATTITUDE, DOES NOT DESERVE A STAR AT ALL!
Don't Do It! – (I would rate 0 stars, but this won't let me. So deduct 1.) Don't eeeevvvvvvveeeeerrrrrrrrr go there unless u want 2 play the we're going 2 leave a bunch of people waiting outside (in the rain) while we pick & choose & trickle them inside so we can look like we're a hot club game. The security team were nice. The doorman was a giant pr**k!. Table service only, he says. 2 bottle minimum per table, he says. & we had called a couple of times 2 find out when they closed & what the scene was that nite. Nobody mentioned table service only. We were in the theater district & traveled all the way downtown 4 that crap! & we were on the list. & it was my birthday! & they knew it because I had on my Happy Birthday tiara! Horrible 1st & last impression.
Sucked monkey balls. – This place super sucked!!!! First things first the music was terrible. The DJ was super late. One of my best friends made a reservation for her birthday party. They claimed she had none. Talk about bad customer service. While I was allowed to walk in and out like I owned the place, the other guest was not even allowed in the building. Not to mention the staff was rude as hell. To all my Black people don't go to this place.
DO NOT GO TO VERANDA! – This Saturday, I had a terrible experience at Veranda.
Although I began planning with a Veranda employee my birthday celebration at Veranda 3 months prior to the date of celebration and confirmed my reservation with her days before the celebration, when I arrived at Veranda on Saturday night around 11:30pm with my friends, the man at the door was rude to me, looked at me like I was crazy when I told him that I made arrangements with another employee, and told me that I didn't have a reservation. Finally, he went to the back of the club, checked the computer and then allowed my friends and I into the club. He also told me that if I ordered a bottle of champagne, it would not be included in the 3 bottles that I was required to order for my guests. The woman employee did not tell me that, even though we have had several conversations. She also failed to inform me that if the number of my guests exceeded 8-10, then the other guests, exceeding that number, 8-10, would be turned away. That information was crucial and should have been shared with me.
Also, at 12:30am, the deejay had still not arrived. How does that happen on a Saturday night???
When the number of my guests exceeded 8, the rude man at the door refused to allow any of my other friends into Veranda. My friends accused him, and Veranda as a whole, as being RACIST. I paid for one bottle and my friends and I left the establishment.
We will never return to Veranda.
Do not waste your time or money!
Late night must – I love Veranda, it's always so much fun. The owners/managers are awesome, they always let me right in and cut the line. Great crowd and great music: before 2:30 they play mostly house music and top 40, after 2:30 lots of hip-hop and old school throw backs. I usually always wind up at Veranda after a night of club hopping. Sundays are urban night, so it can get a little rowdy but tons of fun if you like hip hop. Last sunday Rick Ross, Fabolous, and Busta Rhymes were there, so that was insane. I always have a great time at Veranda, and the crowd is always fun....but then again maybe that's because i know a lot of people there ;)
WORST PLACE EVER – WORST PLACE TO DO YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY IN MANHATTAN. If I could give negative stars, I would. About 2 weeks before my birthday night, I had a face-to-face meeting with the general manager (Gal) and he showed me the table I would have reserved for my birthday in the "lounge" room, which he said would make door issues easier and less pressure from Veranda on doing more bottles than if I was in the "main" room. He agreed with my proposal to have a group of less than 15 (which would include me) come before midnight and do a 2 bottle minimum (since I was pre-arranging with Veranda far in advance), and that separately, less than 15 others would come one-by-one through the rest of the night, and that they should not have issues at the door. He agreed to everything. But, I should have known that something was wrong when he ignored my email to him the day before my birthday to confirm the details, and he ignored my text to him that same day.
When I showed up at about 11:30 PM with my group (less than 15), his door staff were incredibly rude and total jerks to me (and my friends). Veranda in general acted as if their prior agreement with me simply did not exist. Despite my insistence that I had a prior arrangement (and reservation) for bottles with the general manager, the doormen did not care at all, and they demanded to know the ratio of guys and girls in my group. I have partied at the best places in NY, Vegas, and Miami, and the whole point of bottles is to eliminate any issues about ratio. I had a few girls in my group anyway, but the doormen demanded that I needed to do at least 3 bottles and that we would only be in the "lounge" room. They also said that the general manager handles the inside, but that they are handle the outside. The doorman acted as if the inside staff, including the general manager, were a separate and unaffiliated company that had zero say on them. When is that true? Who do they think hired them and writes their paychecks? Ridiculous.
We finally agreed to doing 3 bottles just to get things going with my birthday, but when we came inside, the server was suddenly demanding that we do 4 bottles, even though our group had not changed at all in terms of ratio and size. The doormen then claimed they had always said 4 bottles all along.
I then went inside to find the general manager (who had been ignoring my texts and calls while I was outside having serious issues with the door staff), but he basically blew me off. I went to find him again outside near the door staff, and at this point, the door staff threw me out for absolutely no reason (at no point throughout the time I was at Veranda did I raise my voice or push anyone or act in any inappropriate manner.) The general manager, who was standing right next to the doorman when he booted me, made a super weak attempt to allow me to stay in, but I was ultimately kicked out for no reason and my entire group and I went across the street to Galway Hooker to pre-game and then to Le Souk Harem, both of which are far superior West Village spots than this trash hole (basically, it has all of the drama of meatpacking despite not being in meatpacking).
Bottom line: Avoid this place at all costs and for any reasons.
Love their hookah! – Sometimes its hard to find a great hookah bar, but Veranda has everything that I wanted to offer. Their hookah tastes amazing and so does their food!
Cool lounge – Fun spot with nice crowd. 2 different rooms with good music. 1 room hip-hop the other house. Bottle service is pretty much the only way to go and might be the only way to get in timely.
Awesome new spot! – Some of my friends and I went to Veranda for the first time last night and we Absolutely loved it! Dinner was delicious. Everyone loved what they ordered. The drinks were perfect and of course we loved smoking hookahs!! The apple tobacco was my favorite! I will definitely be coming back!
