Love this place, but the wait is a little long. Wish they took reservations!
Meatballs of the City.
When you first walk in, the ambiance is what gets you. The cozy yet busy atmosphere perfectly depicts what NYC truly is. When I say busy, I mean busy! Make sure to arrive their at least 45 minutes before you actually want to eat or make a reservation because this place gets booked fast. But this just shows how great this little restaurant really is.
I can never get tired of their meatballs - especially around the holiday seasons. They always have something new to cook up on their menu. Their specials are truly special. They mix and match flavors that you never would've considered and better yet, they make it delicious!
Make sure you try their sliders! It'll fill you up nicely AND you get to sample their different meatball styles!
FUN WITH MEATBALLS IN NYC.
I rate the Meatball SHop 5 Stars based upon:
1) This palce is fun. The feel is of an Old Time 1930's Era Dinner or Eats. Very Cool
2) Great staf for such a busy place. "they take the time to expalin ho their Menus works.
3) Old time no nonsense meatballs. They are really good.
4) Coldest Ale in Town
5) All in all a fun night out. Will be back again and again.
If there is a line do'nt walk away it moves very quickly. And well worht the wait.
Nice place. very nice place. Food was excellent. Drinks were fabulous, especially the bloody Mary made with beer. Go and just try this drink. Small place but they move quick. Would certainly go back. Can' t wait for the new locations to open.
Meatballs to die for. The combination lamb with the pesto is fantastic. Also, believe it or not, the Smash size is a perfect portion.
Maybe I will try it one day. i have never had the food, but i have been in at least 3 times and every time, I get the same thing. "1 hour wait and we will call you". That is crazy, one day i will eat your meatballs. One day.
Love love love this place.. This place is unbeatable for well, meatballs. I order the Smash and dare i say it "Naked" balls once or twice a week.
good sauce and cheap food.
It's good, but after all, it's meatballs.
Super crowded and people were fighting for seats.
I had classic beef with spicy meat sauce and risotto. Meatball is meatball. It is okay. Sauce was tasty, but pretty oily, and not a lot of sauce for the dry balls. Risotto was good for the price considering the portion.
Overall, cheap food for tiny little above average quality. Good ambience.
Get the lamb balls and an ice cream sandwich!. The menu listed several types of balls (beef, chicken, pork, veggie and a special - lamb when we were there) and several types of sauces (pesto, spicy meat, marinara, mushroom, parmesan cream, etc.). We did the naked balls, since the boys were full from their dumplings, which was 4 balls with a sauce served with a slice of focaccia bread. You also have the option of ordering a sandwich or meatball sliders. In addition to the meatballs, this place had a great selection of sides (I'd love to come back and try the special risotto), drinks (every day is a special lemonade!) and, wait for it, homemade ice cream! You can even select your favorite type of cookie and flavor of ice cream and they'll serve up a highly dangerous looking ice cream sandwich.
Amazing if you like meatballs!.
I love a good meatball. I saw this place on the food network and had to go. I was a little put off by the area that it is located in. It looks a little, "different" to put it nicely. I would not feel really comfortable visiting late at night, but in the day it was ok.
The first impression upon walking in was the size. It is tiny, and there is not a whole lot of room to move around. I am not sure how many tables there are, but they are small and jammed close together. I like a little more room between myself and my fellow diners.
The menu has meatballs! They have different types, but I stuck with the traditional beef meatball. You make you order on the menu, the waitress comes and verifies it, and then off your order goes to be cooked.
There were definately not processed meatballs. You can tell that they are handmade. I opted for the meatball sandwich with mozzarella cheese and a basic tomato sauce. The roll was amazing, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The tomato sauce was simple and had a nice tomato taste to it. The mozarella cheese was fresh, not the typical shreaded crap you get most.
It was definately worth the trip and it was a unique experiance. I would go back again. It was the best meatball sub that I have ever ate!
