Delicious!. The fact that metballs have their own home now is pretty hilarious, but they are coming in droves! Dropped by here on a Sunday night and the place was packed with people on the sidewalk waiting to get in. We waited about 20 minutes and were finally seated in the cozy restaurant at a long communal table. It seemed a little difficult for the servers to get around in the small space with the people at the bar and those waiting for pick up. You select your meat, sauce, cheese and whether you want them as sliders, 2 meatballs on a bun or a hero. They also have fun sides, but we were here for the main event. We sampled the beef with spicy meat sauce and mozzarella (my favorite!), spicy pork with classic tomato and provolone (yummy) and the veggie with classic tomato and provolone....I mean it was good for veggie, but come on! Since we ordered the 2 meatball sandwiches, they came with a salad which was fresh and a nice balance from the heavy main dish. We then could not resist the homemade ice cream sandwiches which were beautiful and tasted as good as they looked! Interesting concept- great meal!
Citysearch Editorial Review. Comfort food comes to this rustic Lower East Side restaurant, where Le Bernardin vet Daniel Holzman has embraced the humble meatball. He offers the orbs in five styles (spicy pork, salmon, veggie, chicken, beef), which are topped with sauce (try spicy meat or classic tomato) and served with focaccia. Alternately, meatballs can come as sliders or as marvelously messy heroes on Il Forno baguettes. If you’re still hungry, there are Italian-focused sides such as polenta, risotto and braised greens.
