I heard that their duck confit spaghetti is amazing, so decided to have dinner with my boyfriend there. It was a bit hard to find, so don't get lost everyone. It's next to Yokocho (which is next to the book store at the corner).

I usually don't eat duck, but their duck confit spaghetti was absolutely delicious! I can eat it three times a day. Thanks to their check-in special, I could taste their pintxos and the shrimp was fresh, boosting my appetite for sure. We ordered two different red wines. One was the wine that we can taste at any other places (but was good enough), and the other one was so new to us! We really enjoyed it a lot.

It's a beautiful place from both outside and inside, very cozy and romantic. Servers are also nice. It was such a lovely night and I'll visit again sometime soon.

*The portion of food is a bit small. Be aware of that before you go!

It was one of those sticky icky days when Kat and I were searching for the perfect spot to escape the heat and eat for cheap! After witnessing a bum fight and window shopping in stores we can’t afford, we were starving and had enough sidewalk entertainment for the day.

Spotted from across the street… *Spoken in enthusiastic hesitance… Eyebrows cocked, lips smirked* … “What was this place… With its outside seating and fancy décor? Of course it looks expensive, but why not dream?”

We had to get closer! After all, it was Happy Hour, maybe there was a special? *crossing fingers*

Peeking at the menu ended up saving our lives! We literally left singing in the streets! We had to come back…

The Barrel’s interior is a jaw-dropping earthy experience. A copper pained window entrance accents the restaurant’s décor while shielding the street’s view. This pseudo private doorway opens to a dining area where 3 ivy laced beams (1200 lbs!) extend from the barrel-inspired booth seating to the bar’s drop lighting and wine tree. The intimate design was inspired by a vineyard, with intricate details throughout the venue. Like a fairytale birdcage, the bathroom surrounds you with hand-picked glass tiles and iron grape vines.

In warmer weather, The Barrels’ window paneled exterior is unfastened for sidewalk dining on a peaceful block.

When we returned, Kat and I had the awesome opportunity to sit down with the owner, Kenny. The conversation went from his favorite dish, being the Ginger Tuna Sliders, to the restaurant’s recent launch. Everything we ate was light food, leaving us full but not heavy. The menu rotates with the seasons, and it’s recommended to enjoy the tapas* over the main dishes.

With large crowds, we were surprised to learn the restaurant opened only a little over a year ago and relies on word-of-mouth, Yelp, and Citysearch for advertising. The location is great, it’s cute as hell, and it’s a perfect date spot or evening with friends. The idea behind The Barrel is to experience the elements of fine dining without being expensive. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. Kate, our server, was amazing! Both she and Kenny were well versed in the menu and recommended pretty much everything we ordered.

Happy Hour is from 5pm-7pm and I took advantage of the great specials, savoring every bite of the high quality salmon, spicy and cheesy potatoes and steak (which - I must add – was perfectly seasoned, tender and moist). Across the table, Kat was fully indulged in the flavorful Chorizo Flatbread, tangy Ginger Tuna Sliders and crispy Sweet Potato Gratin. We spent the evening lusting over every bite as each dish is prepared with artistic precision and tastes equally delicious.

We’ll definitely be back for more and can’t wait for summer’s Happy Hours!

Good spot at east village. I and my friends had a lunch at outdoor seating of this restaurant. This spot has good view on East Village and serve very friendly all stuff. Very cool draft beer enhanced the lunch at outdoor and very tasty.

It was not busy at that time, I agree all of positive reviews here. I like this place and would be back for dinner.

Delicious tapas and draft beer. My friend invited me The Barrel. First impression of this place was so impressed. It's nice decoration looked barrel, I came to know the reason why name is barrel. This place provided European tapas and full bar. I had 5 tapas and draft beer...tapas was good and beer also was great. Inexpensive price made me so drunken.

I liked this place. ooops~ Service was so friendly......

Nice Bartender. I found this place on last Sunday. When we were outside of there, very curious. This place looked so trendy and very sophisticated. We sit at bar and enjoyed cocktail..Bartender was fun and friendly. European tapas they served was delicious. I already added this place on my favorite list.

Trendy European Tapas Bar. I and my friend found this place last Saturday around St. Marks pl. Actually it was boomed due to crowd on the street. We finally found The Barrel and decided to go in. Atmosphere is..really really good, it's very trendy and clean. We ordered tapas by a chef's choice the day and enjoyed the time at bar. Wine and draft beer were great. list was perfect.

Nice Bartender. I've been there last saturday with my friend. I came to know this place through my friend's recommendation. We tried cocktail and appetizer and after that we added European tapas. It's really delicious. Most of all, bartender was great. I like him. Atmosphere, food and service were all great.

Good hangout place. We found this place by chance around St. Pl. We checked menu on the barrel and saw inside. We order tapas and wine. I had ever spanish tapas but it's first time to have european fusion(?) tapas here. And bartender was very attentive and fun. Actually, all staffs were very friendly. Nice interior and delish food and good service....that's why I give 5 star rating.

Very Friendly. I've been here last saturday. Barrel was very clean and decor looked very romantic. We order 10 dishes of tapas and entree and we loved all of them. They were very yummy. Price was very reasonable and servie was great.

Great neighbor European Tapas Bar. It's really good tapas bar. Tapas is to die for it and it is very fun to choose them. I visited the website and got some information about the event during april. Free cocktail was really nice so I ordered it more.

It's great season. Spring fever, that's for the barrel.
