RARE Bar & Grill and our rooftop lounge RARE View in Chelsea at the Fashion 26 Hotel will be opening in early 2010. RARE is the exclusive food and beverage provider offering on-premise catering, room service, and lobby dining in addition to the rooftop lounge. This area, home of Chelsea's popular flower district has blossomed with many exciting entertainment and dining venues.
RARE is steps away from the Fashion Institute of Technology, The Empire State Building, Herald Square's amazing shopping corridor, with Macy's flagship as the star, and of course Madison Square Garden, home of the Knicks, Rangers and a continuous rotation of concerts and International events.

Decorated with branding irons, red flame photo art and enough barb wire tattoo decals to make Pam Anderson proud, this spacious, bi-level eatery--located at the Fashion 26 Hotel in Chelsea-- isn’t exactly going for subtle. Bold and hearty, most dishes reflect all-American preferences; the menu is comprised of meat-focused, fast food-inspired fare like jumbo burgers, thick steaks and a variety of fries. As at the other Rare locales in Manhattan, the burgers are predictably juicy and satisfying. Smart twists on a familiar theme perk things up--like a sophisticated cocktail list, fun “frickles”…
Editor's Tips
- Save Money:
- Daters beware: since the burgers cost around $15 a pop and come stacked with tons of toppings, save some cash and split one with a side sampler of fries. Trust us, you’ll both be stuffed.
- On the Menu:
- Sticking with the Americana theme, fried Oreos make a tasty appearance on the dessert list.
- What to Drink:
- A handful of beer and wine options are available, though you might want to spring for a cocktail like the fresh, juice-filled Sexy Sexy, just for fun.
What A View!

I had an amzing time at Rare Bar & Grill's rooftop bar Rare View. The drinks were great, the staff was friendly and the view of the cityscape was incredible. Not a pretentious rooftop bar like many others are around the city, Rare View is a comfortable, cozy, friendly escape from the daily grind of the harsh city. A go to spot from now on.
Awesome 30th Birthday
by jacob743
We booked the Rare View (the rooftop lounge at the top of this beautiful hotel) for my 30th birthday party. We turned the entire rooftop into a private event. First and foremost the view is stunning, and provides great scenery. Michael, and Erin helped address every concern that I had. I was concerned about the cold, and they made sure that heaters were installed. The rooftop already has a glass top atrium for protection from the rain. Rare allowed us to bring in our own dj, champagne and sushi chef. We were allowed to put our own video clips on the tv's. All of our guests were really impressed with the place, and we look forward to having more parties at this wonderful place. The staff was extremely nice, and provided us with excellent service.
