What People Are Saying About Glass Bar

Featured Review

Chelsea boys, gallery gals and a generally well-heeled after-work crowd fill this super-sleek Indigo Hotel rooftop bar, outfitted with (you guessed it) glass walls for a modern Miami vibe. With a perch on the 20th floor, this chic lounge offers customers a place to sip premium cocktails (like the Spicy Rita, made with jalapeño syrup) al fresco, but imbibers on a budget should note that drinks cost around $18 a pop. For tipples this pricey, you’d expect killer views--and luckily, the sweeping city vistas (not to mention eye candy), don’t disappoint.

  1. Prices are steep but average for a hotel rooftop, but Glass better step up its service if it wants to compete with the big dogs of this popular summer nightlife genre.

Nice Rooftop Bar

by eat_club

Nice atmosphere at this small rooftop bar. The doormen downstairs were completely friendly, without a touch of the snootiness that sometimes accompanies hotels. The bar upstairs had a nice atmosphere, with a view of nothing in particular. It was however, a NICE view of nothing in particular.

The crowd was touristy, mostly hotel guests or cliques from someplace else. Their friendless varied from extremely (Where ya'll from?) to Euro-trash (Noi non parlano inglese. And we certainly don't want to do it with you!). No beer on tap, but there was an okay variety of bottled stuff. The waitress and staff were friendly. The food was okay, but slightly pricey... normal for this neighborhood. It's a nice place to take a smoker.  --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC Drinkers

Full of Hotel Guests

by sramona713

My fiancé and I tried this bar on Saturday night. We were probably the only people there that weren't guests of the hotel. The drinks were very expensive and the DJ was just okay. The place definitely lacked New York energy. On the plus side, the rooftop was pretty cool, small but nice. Perhaps the scene will improve with time and as more New Yorkers begin to patronize the bar.

  • Pros: Rooftop
  • Cons: Lacked Energy

It's summer, bring on the rooftops

by MeganInManhattan

Newly opened this week on the rooftop of the Hotel Indigo, Glass Bar is absolutely stunning. Like with most rooftop bars Glass boasts a great view, but they've also gone the extra mile to make the lounge itself visually interesting. Blue light is reflected on the low glass wall that surrounds the bar, creating an ocean-like vibe. This half enclosed/half open-air lounge is small, but the crowd was also modest so space or door drama aren't issues...yet. The music is low and funky, making Glass a good place to bring a date or catch up with friends rather than get crazy get wild. Prices are steep but average for a hotel rooftop, but Glass better step up its service if it wants to compete with the big dogs of this popular summer nightlife genre. They didn't have the proper ingredients for several of their specialty cocktails, and the bartender may have been the slowest and dumbest I've ever experienced in Manhattan. Though not crowded, we waited forever for service at the small bar, were forgotten about mid-order, and yet she still got my drink vastly wrong. Since when does "rum and coke" sound like "unidentified yellow-ish vodka drink"? Glass needs to work out what are hopefully some opening weekend kinks, or it will soon indi-go-bye-bye.
