best new date place!!!.
This is hands down my new go-to for date night! it is intimate and cozy but still chic and classy. the service is fantastic. everyone is attentive and effecient and very approachable too. the quality of the food is the best part! everything tastes fresh and yummy! the chef even came out and he's so warm! we even had dessert which was the perfect ending--not too sweet or decadent, which we looove!
we go back almost every date night! the waiters know us by name! best new restaurant in nyc by far!
Citysearch Editorial Profile. From a chef who honed his skills at Gran Gusto in Cambridge, MA, comes this Upper East Side Italian resto focused on Neapolitan cast-iron cooking. The real draw is the assortment of pizzas and panini, made fresh in the wood-burning oven, but Tiella also serves a complete menu of salads, pastas, entrees (branzino, whole roasted chicken, rack of lamb, etc.) and desserts.
DMANBURGER "Tiella" opening soon. Mario Coppola and Chef Giuseppe Castellano of Gran Gusto [Cambridge Massachusetts] will soon open Tiella on the Upper East side. After a raucous night at Brooklyn’s Rosewater restaurant, Napoli natives and long time amici’s, Coppola and Castellano, decided to devote an entire restaurant to a unique cast iron Neapolitan style pan. A “Tiella” was used by Italian grandmothers to bake, pan fry, and deep fry various dishes with the same name. A selection of Tiella’s will feature on the menu,”Fruilano” and “Pescatore” the ingredients are, at the moment, a mystery-but all will be seasonal, combined with imported Italian products and local American produce. Tiella will be open for lunch and dinner and will also feature a selection of hand-made pastas and lesser known Italian wine varietals.
